We plan to release the next version of eJukebox2Web within 2 months or so.
We could go with a new Tabbed interface that displays one thing at a time. So that you have a tab for the currently playing song, a tab for the playlist, songlist, artistlist and maybe a limited album list.

or we may go with a framed interface with the now playing and playlist always in the top frame. Which do you preferr?

i think tabbed would be great.

2 other things:

1. It would be great to try and automatically AllMusicGuide's (which im a convert to now! ;)) information on currently playing band

2. (which ive already mentioned) ability to rank tunes.....

idea

How about using xsl stylesheets for the web, that way it would allow "skinning" for the web interface at no extra cost.

Maybe I'm the only one interested in e2Web but anyway....

I am trialing eJukebox at work with 5 people using the web interface - with a trial version installed on one machine and a couple of things have cropped up....

1. No way to list all the tunes available - you cant browse only search (I think this is to be fixed in the new version)

2. What would be ideal is to have a "child lock" where, if enabled, anyone can add songs but only the person that initiated that particular instance of e2Web can skip tracks, reorder, or delete. At the moment we are having near riot as everyone is skipping other peoples tunes so they can listen to theirs....

just a couple of thoughts......

Maximum of requests for the playlist

Because the whole family is at it here it would be nice to have a maximum of requests for the web playlist. Some other jukeboxes offer it as well and it really saves a lot of frustration for multiple users. Ideally the maximum should be per user. When this is impossible a maximum of 10 will do nicely.
And while you are coding away on this: Why not have a feature "Play the top 50" or something similar to lighten up a boring sunday afternoon? Of course this would block access to the playlist.

All the best. Live long etc.

Just a thought, i don't know if you've tried this out, but how about having one dedicated machine running eJukebox in Kiosk mode, set up a program such as Remote Administrator or VNC (Virtual Network Computing) on it, and then all users on the network can use every feature of eJukebox in normal mode, since they will be using seing and using eJ on their screen.

If you run it kiosk mode, there would be no fighting about skipping of tunes either. :)
