some questions

hi there
i just installed EJ, i saw it at a friend of mine and i think its great
altough i have some minor questions
first of all, my pc is now terribly slow, i think it has something to do with EJ compressing the databas (guess compressing is not the word, but the thing that it does after shutdown when you start it up for the first time??)

well, thats not a big deal, as long as it doesnt keep on doing that
but i'd really love to see in what stage it is (like in xx% of operation) but i cant find it anywhere
any ideas where to look?

2nd question
EJ downloaded a lot of albumcovers, wich is great - the only question i have about that is: does EJ actually store those pictures with the mp3s? in the tags or so

the reason i ask this is because i have an ipod video, wich has the option to show album covers on the screen...but till now i had to add em all by hand
so the question basicly is, does my ipod see the pictures that are downloaded by EJ?

srry bout the english btw

The shutdown slowness the first time is because the compacting the database after importing all your music for the first time is a big task. It will not be that slow the next time...it will shutdown pretty much right away.

When eJukebox downloads a cover it saves it to the database and writes a small id# to the tag (as described above). This id# will allow eJukebox to restore the image without looking it up again if you rebuild the database or move your mp3s to another computer with eJukebox. The ejukebox looked up images themselves are not written to the tags otherwise it would take much much longer on shutdown. So to answer you 2nd question your iPod will not be able to show these cover images. However, you can manually use the eJukebox song editor to embed your own cover image in the tags so they do show up on your iPod.

The best thing you can do to improve eJukebox performance is make sure eJukebox has the fastest possible access to your hard drive. So basically this just means shutting down any programs that are grinding your hard drive allot while eJukebox is in use. For example, Antivirus monitoring is fine just make sure it is not doing a full system scan or eJukebox will become very slow. I personally have a problem with MS Outlook accessing the hard drive too much when mail is coming in and slowing eJukebox allot...but that may just be because I have a ton of mail in my inbox. Anyways, the point I am trying to make is that if eJukebox doesn't have to compete with programs that are thrashing the hard drive allot it will perform much better.
