Adding Videos

Hi Audiosoft.

I am rebuilding the video jukebox. The videos are scattered over 5 hard drives and it is time to get bigger ones.

Since so many will lose their file locations due to the move, a complete rebuild is in order.
What extensions does ej use to add videos? I see the three, wmv, mpg,avi... What about m2v? Anyo others? Is there a way I can add more extensions to be used?

When I add a video, eJ pickes up the naming structure ARTIST - TITLE just fine. It sorts them all. But what about albums? I have many sets of videos all from one show and I want them to all get the same cover, but I also don't want to have to edit each song in the eJ. If I could just touch the files once, titling them in a way that ej would pick up at least three fields. Artist, Title, Album.

Any way that can work? And I have quite a a few complitaions. (say Live Aid) and want to tie them together in a compliation. Right now all compliations were built file by file by hand.
Any automated way? I would like to share my collection with the other eJ Video owner I know, but we lose alot when we rebuild.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!
Don

Nothing, eh? I am trying my own process. If it works I will share with all.

But the extension question is most important to me.
Our videos have extensions of AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG, M2V

eJ doesn't seem to pick up the last two. Can that be added?
Is there some parameter I can change to make it pick them up?

Thanks!

One more extension please

Audiosoft,
All is well wth our three Video and four Audio Jukeboxes.

One favor, the newer videos come out with a mkv ext.

How can I add that so it eJ will find .mkv's?
I know how to make winamp play them, I just can't get eJ to see them during a build or add.
It finds everything else.

Thanks

Have you considered this?

Audiosoft,

MKV encoded videos are the new best format out there. Please, o please can you add .mkv to the eJ's ability to import files? Or tell me how to do it? It imports all our mpgs, m2v, wmvs, etc, but not mkvs.

Any chance?

Thanks

As soon as windows media player adds better support for MKV playback.

update: I see above you got winamp to play them somehow. Link?
I will add mkv import to the next update.

Thanks for the response. I use Winamp to play them, so it works in Ej for us. Never have used MP as it can't keep the video in monitor two like winamp. All I am asking for is the ability for ej to find the mkvs during a build and add them like the rest. Currently I convert them back to mpegs to keep compliant with ej. WMP does play them too, if you have the right decoder installed. Like CCCP, etc.

Is there a ini file or something where I can add the extension so it finds them? I really wish to leave them in mkv format.

I have a friend who had an oldfer license and is not in the new reg system. He tired to get it fixed for months and heard nothing from you, So he is back to Media player for everything. Is there a special email address he can use to get this fixed. He did pay for it along time ago.

Thanks, Audiosoft!

Audiosoft,
As we couldn't use it, I hadn't tried to make this current Winamp play them, but since I knew I could, I tried. No Problem.

First go here and do what it says.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=265075
Essentially, get the latest CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) and install it. Then add the mkv extension to the direct show codec options.

Played them right away.

I can hardly wait!! I keep ruining the good encoding of others so I can get it to play in eJ, Soon I can use MKVs too.
Thanks...and let me know if you need help making them play in winamp.

Audiosoft.

I will add mkv import to the next update. :D

You mean the next final version? Or the next beta (30?). I have several new videos in MKV and would prefer to keep them in that format, but if it will be week/months, I can't wait.
Any idea?

Thanks for listening!

Another?

Audiosoft,

Thanks so much for adding mkv support.
Could you add divx too? That would be .divx
A four letter extension. I am sure there are others (anyone?), but that is one I have been trying. I can rename them .avi and they play fine, but just in case another beta pops up..maybe?

Thanks for all your hard work.

Never Mind :)

Audiosoft,

I found a way to make them avis instead of Divxs...
No need to add .divx now.
Thanks
