Waohh!! Audiosoft.. Fantastic work! !! :o

Your Shelf3D looks incredibly good with your EJ Remix skin! For a beta version it already works quite good.

Thank you so much for your hard and long work on this..

Keep up your excellent work! :)

Audiosoft - 2-11-2008 at 04:23 PM

Thanks Pirk! Have fun with all the new options!
BTW I have been using it with Crimson 2.1 and that background I suggested for a couple weeks now! One of these days we will get around to making some new skins right? I was thinking I would totally redo SilverTunez or EJ Remix with pngs like crimson 2.1 uses. It would require IE7 but most people have that now...right?

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 05:47 PM

Audiosoft,

I'm full of fun with your new "Shelf3D"!! So, Yes I'm motived to make some new skins.. :D Well it's easy to say, but not easy to make a new skin for me.. But I'm ready for one of these days! ;)
Glad you want to use PNGs in the new skins! Indeed I think that most people have IE7 now..

Grifling - 2-11-2008 at 05:51 PM

When i try to install, it stops with a yellow "blinking" Error copying file, and i can not stop it by pressing the red cross. I can only stop it by going to the task manager at stop the program from there. Any solution?

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 06:02 PM

Have made like Audiosoft says?

To install: Shutdown eJukebox and download the attached file. Copy the downloaded file over your old C:Program FileseJukeboxejukebox.exe

Audiosoft - 2-11-2008 at 07:08 PM

Grifling,

The attached file is not an installer. If you have not installed eJukebox yet you need to first download and run the eJukebox v4.9 Full Installer found here: http://www.audiosoft.net/download.htm

Then to install the beta you must manually copy over/replace the ejukebox.exe in C:Program FileseJukeboxejukebox.exe with the file attached in the first post.

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 07:25 PM

Wonderful!!!!!!!!!

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 08:05 PM

I also slightly worked on my Crimson skin (only "beta" yet..) while I was waiting for the new 3D carousel!! :)

Now I have some work to fit my skin to the new "Shelf3D"..

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 09:06 PM

Otherwise Audiosoft, you have made a Extraordinary Sum of Work on this new Shelf3D: All these fine options, and the Fullscreen mode too.. Spectacular! :o
You have a lot of talent.

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 09:16 PM

A bit disturbing your eye on the world, even though! :D

mchawk - 2-11-2008 at 09:40 PM

Wow! O.K. ... But wow! This looks great and has potential... and yes - i need to edit the blacklight-skin.

Here a quick-and-dirty-solution. ;-)

Keep up the good work, audiosoft...

And now excuse me... I have to play (with) something. :D

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 09:50 PM

Here a quick-and-dirty-solution:

"dirty" mchawk? :o Your solution is already quite good!

mchawk - 2-11-2008 at 10:16 PM

Thanks, pirk.

But I only used the nowplaying-background. If it is not "dirty" ... in any case it was "quick" :)

...and taking a good look in the screen-shot, I see some work on the details.

BTW: I just tested the Shelf3D at 800x600 pixels: Forget it! No chance. Absolutely not practical.
1024 x 786 is the minimum to use this feature.
I think, I don't look for a 800x600-Touchscreen at ebay anymore.

Pirk - 2-11-2008 at 10:49 PM

I agree, sure 800x600 that is now definitively too much cramped.. That was perfect for eJ 2.xx versions in 2003!

SimonC - 2-11-2008 at 11:09 PM

I disagree fellas!
Ok, I may be biased because I have an 800*600 touchscreen and don't want to spend the money upgrading - LOL!

But:
The coverflow display could be resized within the skin to around the same size as the carousel and work perfectly well.
Don't give up on the 800*600 yet please guys!!

Audiosft - love the new display - but I have some suggestions for the future:

1 - Tie the cover display to the album list instead of the artist list. The reason I say this, is that by pinning it to the artist list, there are a lot of compilations coming up before the true artist list - which I find undesirable. Maybe Compilations could be listed after "z"?

2 - At the moment, whatever letter is pressed will only display albums by the letter of that artist. Would it be possible to have the letter pressed as the starting point, but be able to actually scroll through the entire album list?

3 - The home view currently shows no albums at startup. A letter has to be pressed before any covers display. Could either the top 10, 20 or 40 albums show on home view - or even all albums as per request (2)?

4 - Lastly, and I guess probably difficult to program, could the album covers rotate after say 30 seconds of idling as per the carousel?

That's my 2 penneth - I don't ask much do I??!! - LOL!

But seriously, great work Audiosoft!!

Audiosoft - 2-11-2008 at 11:35 PM

SimonC, I think I can do all of your requests.
For sure beta 2 will have an option somewhere to set/change the height of Shelf3D to however many pixels you want. That way it can align good on 800x600.

drewster98 - 2-12-2008 at 03:27 AM

Not sure if anybody else has problems but version 5 crashes like crazy for me. I can't even play a song or search for a song without Ejukebox crashing without an error. Went back to 4.9 and it works fine again.

OK, I understand that 800x600 is still used on touchscreens.. You are not the first to say that! ;)

Otherwise, all your suggestions are good, and necessary! Thanks.

mchawk - 2-13-2008 at 11:20 PM

audiosoft,
in which file can I edit the Shelf3D-settings?

Well_Jaggy - 2-13-2008 at 11:32 PM

I haven't downloaded this yet as I need to set up my Jukebox PC, but a couple of quick questions -

1 - does the new carousel shelf use much more memory / processor? - I have it on a reasonably low powered PC.

2 - If it does take up more, can it be switched off?

Thanks! Screens look fantastic!!!

Audiosoft - 2-14-2008 at 12:44 AM

mchawk,

I am working on allowing shelf3d settings to be loaded from individual skins. I will let you know which file to edit when it is ready.

Well_Jaggy,

RE: does the new carousel shelf use much more memory / processor? - I have it on a reasonably low powered PC.

CPU usage should actually be less with Shelf3D since it does not rotate like the carousel.
If you uncheck "Run in Ram" consumption will be very low and it will use around the same amount as the carousel.
If you enable "Run in Ram" it will use about double the carousel because the images are twice as big.

RE: If it does take up more, can it be switched off?

Yes, just uncheck "Use Shelf3D" under the display options and it goes back to the old carousel.

blackcat - 2-14-2008 at 08:51 AM

Audiosoft,

eJukebox disappears (shuts down) whenever I try and perform a search. Running on XP machine.

Any progress with the zero song length or sorting of "the" artists bugs?

ScAtMaN - 2-14-2008 at 02:06 PM

Can confirm what Blackcat says above, exits for me if you try and do a search.

Well_Jaggy - 2-14-2008 at 05:58 PM

Small problem -

when I load up v 5 beta1 (shows in the splash), the shelf 3d is enabled and I get a grey screen where the image should be. I have tried to right click on it to paste in the link, but it does not do anything, there is no response to right click). what I have noticed though is that when it loads, my task bar still has ejukebox 4.91 in showing. any ideas?

It's only a Beta version...

Audiosoft - 2-14-2008 at 07:50 PM

RE: eJukebox disappears (shuts down) whenever I try and perform a search. Running on XP machine.

I am on XP and am having trouble reproducing this. What skin are you guys using? Does this happen no matter the skin? Same when from the virtual keyboard and not? any search input does this only when shelf3D is enabled? help me track this down.

blackcat,
I believe the only thing that could cause zero song length in the playlist would be if your media files have the hidden file attribute or are in a hidden folder. Am I right? I am looking into the THE resort issue with the album list and shelf3d a-z. I should be able to get that working good for shelf3d but the Album list might be to complex to rework without tripling the time it takes to load. It is a pretty complex thing to ignore THE. I was able to pull it off with the artist list but on both artists and albums it may be too cpu/memory hungry. I will look it over again and see what can be done.

Well_Jaggy,
This is how the beta versions will show up....
splash - taskbar
v5 beta 1 - 4.91
v5 beta 2 - 4.92 (edit: still reads 4.91)
v5 beta 3 - 4.93
you get the idea...so only 5.0 final will say 5.0 on the exe and taskbar. This way the new version check can detect a difference when 5.0 final comes out.

RE: screenshot with grey screen
Hmm...Does it stay like that screenshot or do the albums come up after you list some songs?

Well_Jaggy - 2-14-2008 at 08:17 PM

yeah, I know its only beta. kind of why I thought I would highlight this.

Audiosoft, when I click on albums, the 3d shelf dissapears altogether and uses the whole right hand side for the album list(it also did this with carousel), and even when I go back to home, it does not re-appear and all the other info like top 10 songs, top 10 artest etc moves to the top of the screen. (also did this with carousel).

I kind of figured that the version numbering may be like that, but I thought I would mention it just in case.

I use win xp SP2.

Audiosoft - 2-14-2008 at 08:24 PM

Well_Jaggy,

Yes when you open the full album list it hides shelf3d. It is supposed to do that. You need to x close the album list to use shelf3d. BTW Beta 1 does not load any images in shelf3d on startup/home view yet. that will change soon. my question was do you always get that grey screen or does shelf3d start working when the album list is closed and you view a song list?

Pirk - 2-14-2008 at 08:30 PM

It seems that eJukebox 4.91 crash each time you search something that does'nt exist in the database. You can try to search for "3000" or "qwerty" for instance..

I also noticed that eJ starts a lot faster since this beta. That's great!

Is it not sufficient if you pull off only on the Artist Names in the albumlist too?

That would be great if you could also pull off on the artists names starting by LES (meaning THE in French).

Thanks.

no it doesn't work at all. the only time I am able to see either 3d shelf or carousel (if i untick 3d shelf to use carousel) is when the program first loads and goes immediatley to the home page. after that I am unable to view either at any time. whats on the screenshot i posted is the closest I get to it at anytime.

also, this next question probably means I have been missing some of the basic operations, but how do you get a list of songs of you don't select them through the albums? - I don't like using the artist list as it just takes up screen space!!

Well_Jaggy - 2-14-2008 at 08:51 PM

actually - just thinking - what version of flash player is needed for this to work? I have version 8 installed on the pc.

EDIT -

getting somewhere now - I have now installed flash version 9 and I can now get to the options and add the background picture.

I tried clicking on some of the songs on the home page top 10 and it brought the list up, and the picture at the top stays the same, but no album covers show - (made a bit smaller to fit on the page better)

rllercstr7 - 2-14-2008 at 11:37 PM

Wow! That looks great Audiosoft.
In playing around with it I did find a few features that would be nice to have. When in full screen mode the keyboard arrows could be enable to allow for flipping left and right through the albums as well as any of the letter keys activating that artist letter.
In order to increase full screen mode's usefullness, it would be cool to show the album listing when you click on the cover and it flips around. Just like any CD that has the listing on the back. Some little play buttons and the method currently used in the song list to que the tracks would be nice so you could actually play songs from the album without going back into eJukebox's songlist.
Also what resolution are the albums being displayed in for the full screen mode? I have mostly all my art at 500x500, but it just looks kinda blurry.
Did you ever get a chance to look at the suggestion I posted a few weeks ago about the database in genral discussion?

Thanks! :D

ScAtMaN - 2-15-2008 at 11:49 AM

I agree rllercstr7, with a few additions in functionality fullscreen Shelf3d could make an excellent kiosk mode for small touch screens -nice, simple and uncluttered.

As well as rllercstr7 suggestions we could have a bar along the bottom for search and maybe a now playing/whats up next box. This could be very cool !

Well_Jaggy - 2-16-2008 at 09:28 AM

Working now!

connected my Jukebox PC to the net (AGGHHHH) and visited windows update site. few updates and a re-boot later, voila! all good!

Nce work Audiosoft!

mchawk - 2-16-2008 at 01:27 PM

hello everyone,

here is a shelf3d-background for the blacklight-skin:
http://29155.linkredirect.onetwomax.de/

You can use the link within eJukebox-Shelf3D-Settings.
But I think it's better you download the image - the picture is more then 1 MB and could slowdown the jukebox-start.

Pirk - 2-16-2008 at 03:25 PM

Ah ahh.. a town now, well a city! Nice. ;)

Audiosoft - 2-16-2008 at 08:17 PM

Great ideas everyone! BTW I already planned to have a song listing show inside Shelf3D Full screen. That will take time but eventually will happen.

rllercstr7, right now the Shelf3D images are all 400x400 resized from the original. What I will do is add an option to allow you to use the original full resolution images. The only problem with that option is the borders will not look right unless all your images are square.

Update regarding the "leading THE's" album list sorting issue...
I think I have figured out a way to do this fast enough! Will probably have eJukebox generate a new field in the database called artist_for_sort before album list creation. Let me know if you think it should ignore anything else or just THE / LES.

Beta 2 is up! Please let me know if it fixes the crashing!

blackcat - 2-17-2008 at 10:07 AM

Just installed Beta 2 and it still crashes when I search for something that it cannot find. It's fine when I search for something I know I've got.

Audiosoft - Great news about your solution to the sorting of the 'The' artists in the albumlist. Looking forward to this - cheers.

The zero length bug only appears when you uncheck the 'Show Next Song Display When Songs Are In Playlist' box. An image of the bug is in this post:-

Glad you figured out a way to ignore the leading THE's in the album list! That would be great you add to your list: LES - LE - LA - L'
I hope that will apply to the Artist list as well?

Otherwise eJukebox v5 beta 2 still crash if I search for something that not exists in the database.

Thanks a lot for your great work.

Alpheratz13 - 2-17-2008 at 04:51 PM

Hi everybody.

It's an great work what you are doing Audiosoft, thank you.

I know is an beta version, but i can ask you, if is possible of course.
When you put the Shelf3D in full mode, is possible put a kind of "Play Button" like on Album section ? So you can stay in full mode.

It's hard to explain what I mean.
Sorry for my bad english, if you what know more ask me.

Irving

SimonC - 2-17-2008 at 05:41 PM

Great to see the new option for shelf3d height added. Thanks for that.

I am not sure though whether I have a problem or maybe I am not understanding how options work.

I have set height at 250. I then went into shelf3d and adjusted the image size to maximise the available height and set the background image. Then I save.

When I load the options or restart EJ, the background image comes up but the image sze defaults back to original.

Is this a bug or is it as designed?

Audiosoft - 2-18-2008 at 12:24 AM

SimonC,
The Image Size option inside Shelf3D is currently the only thing that does not get saved/restored because it autosizes. I will try to get it to autosize better when you set the height smaller. Then I will see if I can add a checkbox option called "Autosize" that is checked by default but when unchecked Shelf3d would restore your last inside and Fullscreen Image Sizes.

Alpheratz13,
RE: When you put the Shelf3D in full mode, is possible put a kind of "Play Button" like on Album section ? So you can stay in full mode. It's hard to explain what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean. A 'Play Album' button is coming soon for Shelf3D

Pirk - 2-18-2008 at 10:32 AM

Audiosoft,

I've tried again the search function with the beta 3, and well it still crash but I noticed that eJukebox doesn't crash if I close the shelf3D. It also crash when I search using the old carousel! If I close all the carousels, eJukebox NEVER crash while I'm searching.. So it seems the 2 carousels cause this bug.

Thanks.

Alpheratz13 - 2-18-2008 at 02:33 PM

Great Audiosoft.

I can't waiting for new version :D

Pirk - 2-18-2008 at 11:15 PM

Thanks for the beta 4 Audiosoft. I like you keep the image full resolution in the shelf3D!
Unfortunately still crashing on "bad" searchs..

Otherwise just a question: Is there a limit for the among of albums that can display the shelf3D? I mean that often a lot of albums are missing in the shelf3D while they show up in the songlist.

EDIT: The beta 5 also crashed the same way than beta 4..

Pirk - 2-19-2008 at 12:02 AM

The search feature doesn't works perfectly since the shelf3D, but nevertheless this weekend I've tried to improve the search display of my Crimson skin! :D
So a new version of my skin will come.. if you like my new search logo? Safari is coming on windows guys! ;)

rllercstr7 - 2-19-2008 at 12:43 AM

Looks good to me Pirk!

Pirk - 2-19-2008 at 01:02 AM

rllerscr7,
Thanks!

Audiosoft,
The full resolution images are looking excellent when the shelf3D is in full screen mode! And the list by letter works good too, but a lot of albums are missing in the shelf3D display!! Is there a limitation?

Audiosoft - 2-19-2008 at 01:11 AM

Thanks for testing these guys. I wish the search crash would effect me so I could get an error message. I will figure this out soon. But has anyone seen an error message or anything? or does it always totally disappear any time with carousel or shelf3d and no albums found??

No error message for me. eJukebox just disappear instantaneously!

I also noticed that I always have none album displayed in the shelf3D on the Homepage when eJ starts.

Quote:

Pirk,

The shelf3d albums are currently limited to about the Top 40 related albums based on pick count. I was thinking about changing it to based on numbers of songs in the album instead. What do you think?

I agree. I think that would be less restrictive..

Quote:
Also Shelf3D can handle unlimited albums but eJukebox keeps it to around the top 40 so it can load fast enough. I will add an option eventually to raise it to 100 or 200 if you got a PC that can take it.

Yes, I would prefer it loads more albums if possible. I just hope that will not be to slow on my PC!

Thanks.

I have big problem with it being based on the no. of songs in that it will prioritise compilation albums. Could for top 40 be based on recent album year and give priority over artists albums rather than compilations?

Many thanks,

Pirk - 2-19-2008 at 10:35 AM

Audiosoft,

Your Beta 6 FIXES the search bug!

Could you make that the shelf3D uses the saved image size each time it is loaded inside eJukebox and in fullscreen mode too? Until now it always restores the default small size..
Also, there is still no image in the shelf3D on the Homeview when eJ starts.

Thanks a lot.

Audiosoft - 2-19-2008 at 12:48 PM

Pirk,

Great!! Thanks for letting me know beta 6 fixes the search crash! I will sleep good now. When I wake up I will work on making Shelf3D automatically restore your last saved normal and Fullscreen Image Size.

Also nothing shows up in Shelf3D on startup because the home view does not add any covers yet. Do you guys want the most popular albums to show or the menu pngs we talked about before? I was planning on the pngs but I can't do that until I have all the home view PNG image files/features figured out.

rllercstr7 - 2-19-2008 at 03:50 PM

The png's would be great, because the homepage itself already includes album covers. Maybe everyone could suggest a few to be put in and then people could give making the icons a shot as well as using some that already exist such as internet radio. Can shelf3D handle animated images Audiosoft? I suggest the following icons:

-Internet radio
-Options
-CD Ripper
-Playlists/Autolist Builder
-New Songs
-Update database
-Help (Linking to the forums possibly?)
-Switch autoplay mode

It would be awsome if that new songs icon could link to a page something like I had the idea for earlier which was:
"There are 10 album covers corresponding to the newest songs in the database. There could be many songs under each album if they are all newly added to the database. When a cover is clicked on, the bottom portion changes to show a larger cover with its release date, and the newest tracks with their quality and rating. When new songs are added they take the place of the oldest ones in this listing and their album covers appear in the display."
If you have the time Audiosoft, I think that would be awsome! :D

Hello Audiosoft!

Well, I don't know if it's wake up time for you or not? :D I hope you sleep well! For me it's the evening.. Glad if you can make the shelf3D restore the saved image sizes. :)

Concerning the home view, I would like the menu pngs in the shelf3D AND the Top albums underneath! Or else maybe you could add a button to switch the shelf3D between menus and top albums? Unless you put the top albums in the old carousel (maybe using a smaller size), and the menus in the shelf3D.. I don't know if you can/want use the large png icons I posted earlier?

Otherwise, I agree with the menus posted by rllercstr7.

Thanks.

rllercstr7,

Maybe could you make the corresponding png images for the menus you proposed? Audiosoft needs very large and square images, once we agreed on the different choices..

Thanks.

Beta 7 is up

Montana - 2-22-2008 at 01:17 PM

With the beta 7, I'm getting an error message saying it's not a valid Win32 application in Windows Vista.

Andy

SimonC - 2-22-2008 at 01:19 PM

I got the same in XP.
I downloaded again and all was fine.

SimonC - 2-22-2008 at 01:33 PM

Hi Audiosoft - Thanks for Beta 7 - solves the height issue nicely.

However, I have a new problem introduced by Beta 7:

Whenever I start EJ, I now get the same 1st song each time.
This happens in custom mode. If I have a playlist loaded, it will add the same "random" song to the top of the playlist.

Also, with all Betas, Full screen mode isn't working properly. If I select Fullscreen mode and then press a letter from the A-Z, it returns to EJ view and usually fails to display any artists in Shelf3D.

Pirk - 2-22-2008 at 01:41 PM

Audiosoft,

The Shelf3D saving feature of your Beta 7 works good!
I'm also glad that Shelf3D handle leading THE, LE, LES, LA and L'. But I noticed the alphabetical order is not completely respected: Artists with leading THE, LE, LES, LA and L' are sorted at the end of their letter! Have a look at my screenshoot: Les Caméléons, The Clash and The Crystal Method should become before Cypress Hill..

I'm longing eJukebox handle leading THE, LE, LES, LA and L' in the ARTIST LIST and the ALBUM LIST too!

Concerning the Shelf3D a-z list in fullscreen:
As it seems it can't display all the albums for each letter.. maybe you could make it shows the more rescent albums first?

Thanks.

rllercstr7 - 2-22-2008 at 06:08 PM

Hi Audiosoft,
I just wanted to bring a small problem to your attention. Sometimes after I have clicked the next button with my mouse, the button stays in its highlighted state as if the mouse were still over it eventhough it is not. Consequently the next time I click anywhere with my mouse eJukebox skips to the next song. This happens fairly often for me, but I can't seem to recreate it when I am trying to unfortunately.
Thanks!

Audiosoft,
The new Shelf3D looks great; it should look good with the new skin I’ve just completed. It’s a re-imaging of your EJ Remix skin. If I have time I’ll post an image of it tomorrow.

Dragon_slayer - 2-24-2008 at 04:07 AM

Here’s some screenshots of my new skin. It’s consistent with my taste in music but I was actually inspired to make it after watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles hence it futuristic look. It’s more or less finished but I’m still tinkering with it, so it might be another few days before I make it available.

Introducing: Future Retro

Dragon_slayer - 2-24-2008 at 04:17 AM

Sorry about the screenshot size, it’s a bit larger than I expected. Anyway here’s another one:

Pirk - 2-24-2008 at 05:12 PM

Nice work Dragon_slayer!

Audiosoft - 2-24-2008 at 10:18 PM

dragon_slayer,
Nice work! Future Retro looks awesome! I can't wait to try it out!

Everyone, Beta 8 will be up tonight/tomorrow. Beta 8 will fix it so Shelf3D stays fullscreen when the song changes (which paves the way for the coming play album button and the eventual listing of tracks inside fullscreen). Plus it will prevent eJukebox from getting stuck on internet radio for those of you still experiencing that issue. Also I am looking into the playlist issues posted by rllercstr7 and SimonC so those might also be fixed in Beta 8.

rllercstr7 - 2-24-2008 at 10:49 PM

Thanks Audiosoft!

Dragon_slayer - 2-25-2008 at 03:20 PM

Thanks Audiosoft & Pirk, I’m glad you liked it.
I know I stated that it was more or less finished, however, that was before I worked out how to implement button colour changes etc. Since then I’ve added features like transparency on the start-up page & some other original features. I’m still working on it though & probably will be for the next few days. As soon as I’m finished I will post it on the Skins forum for download.

Pirk - 2-26-2008 at 05:55 PM

Audiosoft,

Thanks a lot for fixing the Internet radio! I can now listen to a radio, then leave this radio for eJukebox songs: It's no more a problem!!

Little issue remaining: I just noticed that if I have some songs in the playlist, each time I change the radio station I lost the first 2 songs in the playlist (The playlist display seems to don't change, but if I resize the left pannel songs are missing in the playlist). It's not a big bug, but just wanted to let you know..

Thanks again.

program seems to be getting better and better. too bad im having other issues since buying the program and therfore cant even use ejukebox...

nice work though

well. i just upgraded to pro so i could play with this.

nice work.

blackcat - 2-29-2008 at 04:55 PM

The Shelf3D looks great.

Would it be possible for the home page to display the newest albums added to eJukebox in the Shelf3D view? This would allow easy access to your latest album purchases.

How are the albums in the Shelf3d currently sorted? Would it be possible to have options as in the album view? I have a lot of compilation albums and these are given priority over complete albums, often resulting in complete albums by artists being missed off the list. Could compilation albums be sorted to be displayed at the end of the Shelf3d list? My preference for sorting would be by latest year with compilations at the end of the list.

blackcat - 2-29-2008 at 05:20 PM

Whenever I try and access the Shelf3D after I've been into the display newest songs or last played songs list, only 1 blank album is ever displayed for each artist in the Shelf3d view. Same on both XP (Beta 6) and Vista (Beta 8) machines. Vista machine often crashed eJukebox shortly afterwards.

This bug is also noticable after new songs are added to eJukebox as the display newest songs list is displayed after new songs are added.

CiXel - 3-1-2008 at 10:42 PM

I can't manage to get shelf3D going either under XP. Installed latest flash, upgraded to IE7 (gasp!), made the settings changes to IE7 (thanks Audiosoft),installed DirectX 9.0c, and still no go (with a lot more bloat ;)

What might I be missing? What are the requirements for this?

Audiosoft - 3-2-2008 at 01:45 AM

blackcat, try the beta 9 exe in the first post as it should fix shelf3d after newest songs are listed.

CiXel, please also try the beta 9 download in the first post. What do you see in the Shelf3D area? Do you see the Home and no cover images in Shelf3D like blackcat or is the area totally empty? does right click over Shelf3d show anything?

blackcat - 3-2-2008 at 09:56 AM

Audiosoft,

Yes, the new beta 8 fixes the newest songs/latest played Shelf3D issues. Thanks.

Any plans for the Shelf3D to display main artists albums first in the list, rather than compilation albums? As an example, I have 2 Goldfrapp albums but have to scroll through 8 compilation albums before I get to the main albums in the Shelf3D view.

blackcat - 3-2-2008 at 11:29 AM

Audiosoft,

When I try and add an album to the playlist it more often than not ignores the first track. Especiallly after I start eJukebox in random playlist mode.

Fishy - 3-2-2008 at 10:39 PM

Audiosoft, thanks for the additions and improvements in this version!

A small request: It would be nice to have an arrow (left and right) in order to ease navigation between albums in the shelf 3d. This is probably available in the fullscreen version, but not in the mini-version replacing the old carousel (I have to admit that I use ejukebox lite).

I have also noticed a bug, where one can not close the option-dialog in ejukebox lite (all options are ghosted and one is not able to close the dialog). I do think some options would be appropiate also for ejukebox lite users? I will consider an upgrade anyhow :b

Audiosoft - 3-2-2008 at 10:55 PM

Fishy,
with Lite the Shelf3D options panel elements are disabled so the x does not work to close it. but I think if you right click again and click EXIT the options will disappear right?
So we need some arrow PNGs for Shelf3D? You don't like the mousewheel or clicking the images? I could add arrows as an option. Do you think clicking the arrows should list the album's songs or only move the album in shelf3d?

privatejz - 3-3-2008 at 05:35 AM

anybody else having trouble adding new songs to the database? i have added 7 new cd's i bought but they do not show up. each time i add to the database it finds the files and says it adds them, even opens up the newest songs on the shelf (even though most of them i have had in there for months, what is the time frame for the newest cd's and can we change this?) but the new ones i just added do not show up in any album list, shelf or artist..
also when i go to add to database again it skips them as it thinks they are already added.
any ideas.

also i have noticed in the shelf that it does not show all albums. it seems to pick a random collection of say when i click on blues or jazz it only grabs a selection of the albums i have.

everything worked fine and all albums showed in album view in the old 4.9

thanks.

btw. this version is pretty sweet. been preaching to some friends.. hopefully they check it out and get you some more well deserved customers.

rllercstr7 - 3-3-2008 at 06:11 AM

Hi Audiosoft,
I just wanted to clarify something about the bug I post a little while back in this thread. What I believed was going wrong may not be the case. While the next song button does sometimes get stuck in the activated state, I don't think it causes issues. Instead when I click on the next song button to get eJukebox to play the next song up in my autoplay que (popularity mode) the song that is suposed to be next up starts to play and does so for probably a duration of about 10 seconds before what I am assuming is the even farther back (2nd) in the autoplay que begins to play. In a nutshell, sometimes the song that is up next in popularity mode somehow gets skipped over when I click on the next song button. As I said before it seems to happen randomly and therefore I have a hard time figuring out exactly what causes it. I hope that you can follow that ok, but just let me know if you need further clarification about anything. Thanks Audiosoft, eJukebox is looking great!

Fishy - 3-3-2008 at 09:19 AM

Audiosoft, now I can close the dialog.

I also noticed that I can use the mouse wheel to scroll through albums :) That makes the suggested arrows redundant. Thanks!

ScAtMaN - 3-3-2008 at 01:59 PM

I still think having arrows as an option woudl be good. -think about us touch-screen users without a keyboard and mouse!

Audiosoft - 3-3-2008 at 06:04 PM

ScAtMaN, on a touchscreen wouldn't you rather just click the actual album images instead of using arrows? without arrows you touch less to get to the album you want. with arrows you would have to keep clicking them to move one at a time...unless i made the arrows scan when you hold them down.

How do you think the arrows should function? Click arrow to move 1 album at a time without listing the songs until u click the center cover? or mousedown over the arrow scans until mouseup then lists the selected album's songs?

SimonC - 3-4-2008 at 02:50 PM

Hi

Still having a few issues with Shelf3d.

1 - Sometimes in artist view when pressing a letter, either just 1 cover being displayed or none at all. This usually happens after displaying several different letters from the a-z. Once this happens, restarting EJ is the only way to get the covers displayed again.

2 - In full screen mode, pressing any letter causes EJ to crash totally - I've only noticed this since Beta 9.

Is this happening with anyone else?

Audiosoft - 3-5-2008 at 06:43 AM

SimonC,

Beta 11 is up in the first post. Give it a try as it should fix those issues.

rllercstr7 - 3-5-2008 at 07:54 PM

Hi Audiosoft,
Have you been able to figure out anything pertaining to my next song issue. Its not a showstopper, but is annoying as it happens a few times a day. Thanks!

SimonC - 3-6-2008 at 12:18 PM

Hi Audiosoft

I've applied Beta 11 and still have the following issues:

1 - Fullscreen crashes on non exisiting artist - EG... "Z"
2 - Fullscreen Intermittant crash on cycling album sleeves (Happened twice last night)
3 - Compilation filter works ok on full artist list and full screen but not on minimized artist list (I.E when a-z listed on left of screen without full artist names)
4 - Still experiencing same song from random mode on startup - even if I have a saved playlist.

Not sure if all of these issues are down to the BETA or not - especially full screen crashes.

Is anyone else experiencing the same? - Please advise, because if not, I will try a Windows rebuild and re-install.
Thanks.

privatejz - 3-8-2008 at 06:07 AM

1 - Fullscreen crashes on non exisiting artist - EG... "Z"

this had just happened to me. but mine didn't crash until i selected letters a few times that had no artist and then selected back. i also noticed that when selecting a a-z that didn't have an artist listed it would change the character to some other font. if it happens again i will get a screen grab and post.

privatejz - 3-8-2008 at 06:41 AM

ok. got it to do it again. here is a screen grab of the text thing.

this happens if i select a letter with no artist with that letter.

Audiosoft - 3-8-2008 at 09:18 PM

privatejz,

So eJukebox does not crash only shelf3d does? Can you then uncheck recheck Use Shelf3D after that screenshot happens to fix it? Let me know so I know where to look for the bug.

Pirk - 3-9-2008 at 10:54 AM

Audiosoft,

Two nice speed improvements! The Now Playing animation is now always fast enough, and the Shelf 3D load faster too.
Any speed improvement in eJukebox is still welcome..

Thanks a lot.

Ok, on Beta 12 All I see in shelf 3d is the background image, so no cover images. A right click shows the flash popup which tells me no movie loaded.

privatejz - 3-10-2008 at 12:43 PM

sorry i should have been more clear. ej will crash, at least it did once when i did this. it just took awhile while messing with the letters as explained above.

Audiosoft - 3-10-2008 at 08:53 PM

CiXel,

Are you sure you have the latest Flash installed? BTW the carousel requires flash 6 or better and Shelf3D needs Flash 9.
Latest Flash Download: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
Any chance you can post a screenshot of the no movie loaded message? Also, can you check to see if flash works on web pages when you use Internet Explorer?

I HAD Flash 9 installed, but it only registered in FF. IE was still registered with 6. I did a flash 9 install from within IE and we're good on that front. I can now load up EJ and see shelf 3d and right click and get the option screen, but I'm in the same boat that blackcat was... no album covers. I see that he resolved that issue, but I didn't see what the actual resolution was.

Dragon_slayer - 3-13-2008 at 05:15 PM

Just letting everyone know my Future Retro Skin is available for download.

Well_Jaggy - 3-21-2008 at 11:35 AM

Really liking the Shelf 3D, but I wonder if it would be posible to make this an option to use shelf 3d to browse the full album list when you click on the "albums" tab?

skid - 3-22-2008 at 05:53 AM

When I updated the internal player will only play songs if I actually click on the play button...but the winamp player will automatically play the songs like before.

rllercstr7 - 3-26-2008 at 02:09 PM

Hi Audiosoft,
I would REALLY appreciate it if you could look into the issue I am having with the next button as it is getting pretty annoying. It happened 6 times yesterday alone. Thanks

Audiosoft - 3-26-2008 at 11:31 PM

rllercstr7, could it be that you are not letting go of the mouse button quick enough over the >> button....causing the FF scan to activate? If so I can make it take longer before ff kicks in - so that you don't have to mouseup as quick.

rllercstr7 - 3-27-2008 at 03:56 PM

No, I don't believe that is the case Audiosoft. I never really even hold the mouse button down at all, just one quick click. The same action sometimes correctly skips to the next song while others it skips right over the next song to the song further along after it.

rllercstr7 - 3-28-2008 at 04:12 PM

Audiosoft, here is a screen shot of the issue. The next button always stays highlighted in orange after the skipping over the next up song takes place and my mouse cursor is no where even near it! It will stay this way until I hover the mouse over the button again even if one song ends and the next begins. I don't know if that helps, or why I am the only one experiencing this, but I am happy to do anything thats helps you to fix it. Thanks!

Anyone know how I can force the internal player to automatically play the songs?

Audiosoft - 4-3-2008 at 05:39 AM

skid, have you tried checking "Prevent Playback Stoppage" under the green Sound tab?

Yeah I tried that. If playback stoppage is unchecked the song just sits there and doesn't play, and if I check it the songs don't play but they shuffle to the next song after a few seconds.

rllercstr7 - 4-3-2008 at 11:27 PM

Hi Audiosoft,
I just wanted to let you know that my issue occurrs not only in autoplay modes, but also when skipping to the next song in the playlist. The back button will also take the same action as the next button, shipping back 2 songs sometimes, which I just noticed. Both shuffle and repeat are disabled in winamp and I am baffled as to what may cause this. I'd really appreciate some help!

Dragon_slayer - 4-25-2008 at 10:18 AM

Hi Audiosoft,
The Shelf3D looks & works great!! An option to display the most popular albums on start-up like with the carousel would be great.

Audiosoft - 5-3-2008 at 09:49 PM

Beta 15 is up

Pirk - 5-4-2008 at 12:09 AM

Thanks Audiosoft, for this Beta.. #15!
So no PNG songlist headers yet. Don't worry, I can wait the next beta. Tomorrow Sunday, will be a special day for you! ;)

Krobar - 5-4-2008 at 06:47 PM

Hi Audiosoft,

Please could you make .wv file support work again. :)

Atavar - 5-6-2008 at 03:53 AM

I just wanted to say "Great Work" for the new Beta. I am running it on a marginal PC.. Win2K 1.8G 1G Ram DX9 IE6 and it runs great. The shelf3d actually seems to be less processor intensive than the carousel was.. with carousel I had to raise the priority of ej4 to avoid audio skipping, I don't have that problem with ej5 .

One note in case anyone else is running bargain basement like I am,. if you are using a USB drive make sure it is USB2 and you have the proper drivers. USB1 is not fast enough to play back high rate mpg's.

Actually my HTPC is wireless connected, and my obsolete Quantum Snap 250G data drive is elsewhere in my local network. I had to update drivers to get an honest 54M (802.11g) wireless connection. 11M (802.11b) stuttered and skipped. I mount the drive via TCP/NetBIOS.

Everything seems to work great, even using the antique Hercules Game Theater sound card that lets me connect SPDIF to the stereo so I can enjoy 7.1 Dolby.

In any case the eJ5 is running great.. even with >5K tracks in the database (I'm an old geezer and I've been collecting since the 70's)..

Thanks again for a great product. I was happy to register it.

CiXel - 5-6-2008 at 11:00 AM

I can't get these new versions to run without crashing.
This is the basic signature thrown:

AppName: ejukebox.exe AppVer: 4.99.0.14 ModName: gdiplus.dll
ModVer: 5.1.3102.2180 Offset: 0010316d

This is even after a 'fresh' install with the beta exe on top.

Flash version 9.0.115.0
net Framework 2
Directx 9.0c

Audiosoft - 5-7-2008 at 06:27 AM

Krobar,

.wv support never went away. What part of .wv support is not working for you?

CiXel,

maybe try downloading the gdiplus.dll attachment under the topic at the link below and replace over gdiplus.dll in C:windowssystem32 and then restart eJukebox and see if that helps. http://www.audiosoft.net/forums/viewthread.php?tid=2330#pid78285

CiXel - 5-7-2008 at 11:08 AM

Strangely, I didn't even have gdiplus.dll in my system32 directory. Upon adding it however, same exact error.

Is there someplace else the file may be drawing from? I seem to have a few different versions floating on my computer, but none of them seem like they are in any system area. Mostly accompanying other programs. I'll also try replacing the gdi32 when I can get to Dos mode to flip it out (as it has so many dependencies ;) and see if that might help.

Audiosoft - 5-22-2008 at 08:07 AM

beta 16 is up!

Pirk - 5-22-2008 at 08:35 PM

Audiosoft,

Thank you very much for your beta 16: A swift version!

Nice shop! :o

Pirk - 5-30-2008 at 09:21 PM

In order to test the eJukebox import files speed, I just tried to build a new database from another eJukebox install (v5 beta 17).

Verdict: 0.09 second / song! Which means a average of only one second for each album, cover included!! :o

I think it's a respectable performance! In particular because this import speed never slow down during the hour taken to scan all my files.

Nice work Audiosoft!

CiXel - 6-1-2008 at 04:55 AM

I finally got EJ to take today without crashing by doing a clean install into c:program filesejukebox.
The import was MUCH better than it has been.
Before I had tried instlalls in W:program filesejukebox (which is my 'home' windows directory) as well as w:ejukebox and e:ejukebox

Might there be some hard coded value that is looking for c:program filesejukebox ?
Has anyone else intalled these new sets of beta's into an 'alternate' directory?

Pirk - 6-1-2008 at 09:50 AM

My current testing directory is C:Program FileseJukebox2 with v5 beta 17, no problem.

Audiosoft - 6-3-2008 at 09:29 PM

beta 18 is up

goldfinger515 - 6-4-2008 at 06:18 PM

I still can't seem to get ejukebox to continue playing songs. I will have say 30 songs in playlist and I HAVE to hit the play button or it will remove the next song in the list til the list is gone... Any ideas?

Audiosoft - 6-4-2008 at 08:32 PM

goldfinger515, you are using eJukebox with the internal player and not winamp right?

goldfinger515 - 6-4-2008 at 09:29 PM

Yea I am using the internal player. I had a feeling that is what it was but it's been like that for quite a few betas now and thought it would've been fixed or was something else. I was going to try winamp but last time I used it I didn't like it. If the next beta or even one after that fixes it that would be great!

Audiosoft - 6-4-2008 at 09:31 PM

goldfinger515, make sure the following option is checked.
Tools->Options->Sound tab->Prevent Playback Stoppage

This should make sure it automatically goes to the next song. Also the pause button will still work good with that checked. Let me know if that fixes the problem for you for not.

I read about that in another post and yes it is checked. I tried numerous options and nothing seems to keep the music playing.

If you don't want the songs to be removed from the playlist after they play then do this:

Click the "Menu" button top left above the playlist and click Loop. When Loop is checked on the menu eJukebox will not remove the song from the playlist after it plays it.

Ok it works this way. I will put say 10 songs into a playlist. None will play til I hit the play button. After the first song it will then act as if it going to play the next song but never does and after say eight seconds of waiting it removes it from the playlist as if it just was played.

Does that make any sense to you? Not sure why it does that but eh it does.

Audiosoft - 6-7-2008 at 12:52 AM

what file type are these songs? mp3 or something else? enabling the use winamp option might be the only way.

CiXel - 6-7-2008 at 03:08 AM

What version of Winamp are you using?
Might 'manual playlist advance' be set in winamp prefs under playlist options?

Have you tried running winamp 2.9x instead?

goldfinger515 - 6-7-2008 at 03:13 AM

I've been using the internal player so I dont use more resources than I have to. I havent tried winamp as I have had issues in the past with it but I guess may be my only way... I will try tomorrow and let you know.

CiXel - 6-7-2008 at 03:23 AM

if you use winamp 2.9x which you can get from here:
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winamp
your resource load will be still quite low.
Beyond that it opens up the ability to introduce music shaping plugins should you so choose (granted they would use more resources). I think that's your best bet.

I will have to try that. My pc that has ejukebox on has more than enough but would max out my old 3.0 p4. Gonna try on my 4200+ x2 and see how much it uses.

CiXel - 6-8-2008 at 11:46 AM

I run it on a 2.4 athlon XP, so I don't hink a 3 ghz p4 is going to have much issue. Just make sure you have enough memory on the system so you can run EJ in RAM for the performance boost.

The exact same thing happened when I installed version 5. The internal windows media player wouldn't play songs unless I manually hit play on each song...but winamp worked fine.

I just ended up reinstalling ver 4.90, so the internal player would work again.

Audiosoft - 6-14-2008 at 04:56 AM

goldfinger515 and skid,

Please try 5 beta 21 in the first post as it should fix your problems with the internal player not playing unless you click play. let me know

Jed4570 - 6-14-2008 at 12:48 PM

I've had the same problem as the others.

WinAmp & Internal player don't work properly in the beta 21 either.

I'm going back to 4.90 until it's fixed.

I just tried beta 21. Winamp will play the songs in the playlist, but the internal player still just shuffles through them unless I press the play button.

Audiosoft - 6-14-2008 at 11:26 PM

ok sorry 21 didn't help. thought it would. trying to figure out why it is going wrong for you guys.
When you click the play icon in the songlist does the song show in now playing and start playing with the internal player and beta 21?
what about the >> button? does it start playing after clicking that?

not sure if this is related but I just noticed a problem with the multimedia keyboard << and >> keys. When holding those key down it was repeating the operation and going to next song after next song. that will be fixed in beta 22 so one << or >> multimedia key press only moves 1 song no matter how long you hold the key down.

Yes...the song shows up in the now playing window in 21. But it won't play unless you hit the play button.

When you click >> it will go to the next song, but the song will just sit there for a moment and then skip to the next one unless the play button is clicked.

Audiosoft - 6-15-2008 at 03:56 AM

Thanks everyone for reporting on this everyone.
i believe the internal player problem is actually fixed now in beta 22.

privatejz - 6-15-2008 at 06:05 AM

got this error when clicking on an album in the playlist

Audiosoft - 6-15-2008 at 06:13 AM

privatejz was that with beta 22? What was the name of the album you clicked on? any special characters in the name? let me know if it happens again or if just happend once?

privatejz - 6-15-2008 at 12:58 PM

it was beta 22, there was nothing special about the album name it was kid rock, rock and roll jesus.

i installed ej on my laptop last night and switched my license to it and then added just that album to the database because my other computer with ej would not load it no matter what i did with the mp3 tags. when i loaded the album it only loaded 3 songs and i could only see them if i click on home. there it showed the album cover as one of the top 5 songs when i click on that album it gave me a blank cover in the shelf 3d and then gave me that error.

i don't know why it will not show this album as i create all my mp3s exactly the same and just double checked and the id3 tags are just like my others songs but it seems to have an issue with this album

ok. so i re-did the tag 3 different times and then rebuilt the database and now the album comes in and does not give the error i shown above when clicking on the album in the home

privatejz - 6-15-2008 at 02:54 PM

ok. so the error happens again when i click on a letter and there is no artist that starts with that letter.

All the new Keyboard Shortcut Keys are now working good with beta 25.

Thanks.

Yogui - 6-24-2008 at 09:35 PM

Hi,

I saw the shortcuts on beta 25. All the testing is OK on my PC.

I was thinking... May be a option to change the ejukebox volume when minimized or not in focus would be the media keys:

Volume_Mute
Volume_Down
Volume_Up

That will also give the chance to users with Knob Media controlers (I use griffin powermate) to control the ejukebox volume from the Knob.

At the moment on my win XP PC, the logitech wave KB I use only change the master volume and mute. :(

I'm of the idea of leaving the master vol at 100%, because sometimes other players turns the master vol to 100% and then the neibours complains... . :P

Cheers, Yogui

Audiosoft - 6-25-2008 at 04:16 AM

Yogui,

Looking into this. I am not sure yet if it is possible but if it is then would have to add an option to override the multimedia keyboard volume controls so that they don't control master system volume when eJukebox is open....otherwise it would change the volume on system and eJukebox at the same time.
Would you rather have that or a ctrl+alt+"+" and ctrl+alt+"-" for volume when eJukebox does not have focus.

Yogui - 6-25-2008 at 07:44 AM

Hi ejukebox,

Thanks for spending time on to this, I'm sure u r quite busy with the beta testing.

I think that:

Volume_Mute
Volume_Down
Volume_Up

will be more intuitive for users and it should not interfere with other programs shortcuts as Control+Alt+{+} may...

But if its too difficult well Control+Alt+{+} and {-} will do to add as rule for any multimedia controller program etc.
Even to do it manually won't be that terrible. :)
You still able to add the multimedia vol control later...

Cheers, Yogui.

Yogui - 6-25-2008 at 07:56 AM

BTW,

If you what I can easily make you an www.autohotkey.com script that can be compiled to and .exe
That will take care of any shortcut (and media keys) of your choice and send a tricky shortcut that trigger your vol change on ejukebox without affecting the master volume.
It can also send or post messages as well (but I don't know if you can make ejuke can respond to messages.
If the script runs with and other instance already running if will kill it and then kill itself so that will toggle the media control.
Also it will check that ejukebox.exe process exist and close itself if not.
For your peace of mind I'll give you the open source code and you can easily compile the .exe yourself ;)

Cheers, Yogui.

Yogui - 6-26-2008 at 11:37 AM

Hi,

3rd consecutive post... I got exited with this one... lol :P

An other option and may be a good feature would be to synchronize the volume with win amp (I don't know if the internal player has one way too like master volume...).
Currently if I change the volume on win amp ejuke does not change. But if I change tracks on winamp ejuke updates that instantly.
If the same happens with the volume and ejuke follows and/or sets the volume control there are plenty of ways to control win amp (and ejuke follows) with media keys, multimedia knobs and plugins.

As you may know Winamp acepts a LOT of post/send message.

This link has some example for winamp:
http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/PostMessage.htm

This full sync ejuke~winamp feature will also open the possibility that something I always wanted to do is:

have two or more ejukeboxes sincronized via winamp.

My dream one is wirelessly (Tablet PC to a Desktop connected to the sound system)
Something similar to www.sonos.com but with a much more complete interface as ejuke has.

Cheers, again :D

Fishy - 6-27-2008 at 03:36 PM

Audiosoft, does the 79 dollars for ejukebox pro lifetime apply both when upgrading from ejukebox lite and when purchasing a lisence for the first time?

Considering an upgrade :)

Yogui - 6-27-2008 at 10:19 PM

Hi Fishy,

I think you are saying upgrade to get ejuke to 2web feature.

I wasnst talking about 2web I ment Full ejukebox.

BTW I got full version, 2web is a great feature but I like the full interface.

May be the second ejukebox can listen to the same 2web conection/address/port etc and sync. (sorry I'm hopelless with IE/ports etc. I can't be of much help there)

Could be economically atracting, because I'll be a user (hopefully there will be some more) happy to pay for one Full Pro Licence on each of my 3 PCs if I can have a system like sonos.com
BTW2 Sonos has a expert users area where there are some in deep info. I joined last year (had a 20 questions test to pass lol) but I did have the time to research.

Anyway, may be this is material from a other discussion/poll and I got exited (in that case sorry my fault).

I would like to keep the topic of full suport for multimedia or shortcuts keys when ejuke is minimized or hiden to tray.

Any news ejukebox?

Cheers, Yogui.

Audiosoft - 6-28-2008 at 04:00 AM

Fishy, check your u2u messages.

Yogui, There is no post message to GET the volume level from winamp only one to SET the volume. this is why eJukebox can control winamp's volume but when you change the volume on winamp it does not change the one in the eJukebox display.

What do you think about....CTRL ALT +/- for the eJukebox volume even when not focused? Anyone know of anything that will interfere with? or how about just ALT +/-

Yogui - 6-28-2008 at 09:55 AM

Hi ejukebox,

yes there is sendmessage to get volume.

I've made a quick little script to show you some hotkeys use (use either .ahk or .exe) does a couple of nice things with the mouse wheel, volume media keys.

Code at the bottom, .exe attached.

Press v to get volume

What you care is:
SendMessage 0x400,-666,122,,ahk_class Winamp v1.x
MsgBox, , ,`nThe current Winamp volume is %Errorlevel% (From 0 to 255)

info come from many sources:
Most info is linked form here:

http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic9989.html

If ejuke follows winamp you 'll have a nice minimized hiden control.

If bugs found please let me know.

I'm happy to customize it for anything you what.

I've also done a few tricks with ejuke. We can go in to detail but all the winclasses, subroutines, and functions are builtin on my may code. I'll take some time to get some stand alone script.

A quick list:
Multimonitor suport (via winmove)
Control ejuke volume from enywhere in the playing panel
Hideshow winamp and or DFX
Cursor ring (nice for touchscreens)
ejuke dimers down when not in use
enable/disable size controls
scroll wheel on time remaining to FF RR 5 sec per notch

I may do ejuke sticks to the desktop (bottomost windows)
but i have to research on making ejuke a child of dekman

Cheers, Yogui

Hi Again Ejukebox,

The attachment I uploaded before, download on my PC without the extension. You may need to add ".exe" at the end to run it.

BTW,
I didn't answer your question Control+ALT+(+) or (-) because I already did here on the posted on 25-6-2008 at 17:44.

Please don't underestimate autohotkey. Its a 1mb portable free app and you can write a LOT of things on it.

If Ejuke can't post/send messages a script on autohoykey can do it running from command line and hidden.
Then you probably can to "anything" to winamp.

On the autohotkey forum there are some people that successfully post and receive messages trough a network.
But probably a winamp pluging is the way to go about syncronizing winamps.
That would mean that 2 or more ejukes could browse the same DB at the same time and can play separates or the same file/s on their locals winamps?... I keep dreaming... lol

If you wanna find out a message codes for nearly anything...
If there is a message even un-documented, you'll find it.
http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/SendMessage.htm

Cheers, Yogui

Audiosoft - 6-30-2008 at 07:38 AM

Yogui,

Probably would not be good to override the multimedia keyboard volume controls. They really should be the system volume. What I will do is add the CTRL ALT +/- for independent eJukebox volume control.

BTW if you want to run eJukebox on a tablet pc using the main pc's eJukebox then remote pc software should do the trick if not 2web.

Might it be a good idea to create a Keyboard Shortcuts page option within EJ so people could define what they wanted each key to assign to?

Yogui - 6-30-2008 at 09:37 PM

Hi Ejukebox,

About sync 2 ejukes, I've try a few remote software. Unfortunatelly I can't stand the lang and fliking.

My experience:
-MS Remote Desktop (average)
-VNC (Real and various flavours Thight VNC Worked quite well. A lot of settings that affect performance)
Synmantec PC anywhere (payed but I would say the best one)

I only had WIFI B, my HP1100 tablet PC bios can't handle the WIFI card upgrade :(
It will be nice when WIFI N becomes a standard and SSD Tables runs fast.

Back to the volume, I'll be happy with any key combination BUT:

Did you try the send message???
And the .exe that gives extended volume control on the desktop???

CiXel has a point that is nice to pick your own shortcuts, and AGAIN

1) if Ejukebox follows winamp via sendmessage you have plenty of winamp plug ins for vol, FF, RR etc control. Anyone can pick.

2) It'll make sense to sync fully vol as FF, RR already are.

3) It happend to me once, if you are playing Ejukebox with winamp at 100% vol and lower the vol via winamp. Then if u toch ejuke vol winamp will be set back to 100% and you jump to turn the vol down again.

Finally, once again, I dont mind wich hotkey (Control+Alt+{+} & {-} is OK) controls the ejuke vol as long as it does it allways (when in and when out of focus, Minimized (normal and to tray), Ejuke is hiden, some people may use multiple desktops or workspaces.

Cheers, Yogui
PD: Ejukebox, I would really like to hear your ideas about the send message code I gave and the .exe and code.

So you finally fixed it! That's great. ;)

Thanks for this update Audiosoft.

Fishy - 7-8-2008 at 07:59 PM

Audiosoft, could you add an arrow to "top 5 albums" as well and rename it to "top albums". The possibility to go through popular songs and albums from the homeview is highly appreciated, thanks!

Audiosoft - 7-8-2008 at 09:54 PM

Pirk,

About time huh...I finally restarted windows. :D

Fishy,

Arrows for albums on home page that's the plan. But I was thinking about making it Newest Albums instead of Top albums when Shelf3D is visible above. what do you think?

I'll chime in with New Albums would help keep the shelf different initially. Top albums tend to continue to be the top albums ;)

Fishy - 7-9-2008 at 11:02 AM

Sounds fine to me :)

Pirk - 7-9-2008 at 01:22 PM

I agree, I would also prefer the Homeview displays newest albums in the shelf 3d, and the Top album in the Top album list.

Yogui - 7-10-2008 at 09:12 AM

Hi Ejukebox,

Hopefully I didn't annoy you too much yet with the volume control :D

Thanks for the Control + {+} and {-} Volume control it great!!

NO A BUG but, when I press Control + {+} or {-} and ejuke is in focus the volume is changed (up or down) for double the amount that it should.
So it take aprox 14 Keystrokes to go from 0% to 100% instead of the 28 you get from wheel scroll and plain {+} and {-}.

Cheers, Yogui.

Pirk - 7-16-2008 at 10:09 PM

Audiosoft,

Thanks for your 5 Beta 27 Refreshed version!

Sometime if you can fix a little display issue I noticed since a long time:
I think it's the last one remaining! ;)

If you screen res is 1280x1024 in EDV mode and you have the Artist List open. Then if you change to Non-EDV and you click on the "Popular" button, eJukebox reduce the artist list -like if there was not enough space..- and the empty space is not recovered by the left pannel.

So the bug is: eJukebox should not reduce the artist list in this case! And also I think it should "maximize" enlarging the left pannel.

Thanks.

Pirk - 7-16-2008 at 10:46 PM

I think the non-EDV looks better like that:

Audiosoft - 7-17-2008 at 02:02 AM

Thanks Pirk! it used to do the same thing when you clicked the letter INSIDE the artist list too because that's what it did in non-edv so it wouldn't overlap....before the widescreen option. Thanks for reporting about Popular. btw it does the same thing when you click the album list Refresh button or lookup missing covers, genre year menu items and search box enter. These will all be fixed in beta 28.

Pirk - 7-17-2008 at 10:44 AM

You are right Audiosoft! In fact I don't use the non-edv mode so often than edv.. but that will be perfect if you can fix it for 1280x1024 res.

Thanks.

Yogui - 7-22-2008 at 06:02 AM

Hi ejukebox,

The shortcut you add Control + {+} or {-} to control volume when ejukebox is not in focus has been working great and I love it. But I also noticed the following:

1) Pressing other keys as well as the requiered Control + {+} or {-} also triggers the action. Say Control+a+q+{+} this increase the chances of other applications shortcuts being override with ejukebox.

2) Foxit PDF uses Control+{Numpad+} as zoom in and {Numpad-} zoom out. eJukebox blocks this shortcuts. At the moment I don't recall other applications.
On this post we talked before of Control+Alt+{+} as a shortcut, but remember that Alt is used for calling the menus and shortcuts on most applications.
Control+Shift+{+} sounds as a good option. both buttons are close on the US and most (or All) keyboards.

Cheers, Yogui.

Audiosoft - 7-24-2008 at 08:41 PM

Thanks Yogi...You're right CTRL SHIFT +/- is better!

Beta 28 is up!
Sorry guys...no arrows or newest for homeview albums yet.
the visorcar png was giving me all kinds of trouble. finally got it to reliably size to the correct width. anyways how about a link on the home view that loads newest albums in shelf/carousel? that or have the albums on the page be most popular and shelf newest. then have a link next to Top Albums header that switches to the opposite. Top in shelf and newest on page.

Yogui - 7-25-2008 at 02:22 AM

Hi,

Thanks for beta 28 So far so good!

I'll let you know if I see any other issues.

Cheers, Yogui ;)

Pirk - 7-25-2008 at 09:26 AM

Audiosoft,

Thank you very much for fixed non-edv with widscreen in Beta 28.

Otherwise, sometimes there is still a strangeness in the Up Next area: It's the text links which work differently concerning their background image, and the background image is also centred differently since Beta 28 or since something else that I don't understand!? I hope you see what I mean! I will post a few screenshots..

Pirk - 7-25-2008 at 06:15 PM

Here is a screenshot of the Up Next area before Beta 28, using my Crimson Live 3 Skin:

Pirk - 7-25-2008 at 06:17 PM

And now here is a screenshot of how looks my skin Crimson Live 3 since eJukebox Beta28:

Note that I've NOT edited my skin! So why the up next links are working differently suddenly??

Pirk - 7-25-2008 at 06:36 PM

If I click on the Up Next Album image, then some graphics are missing in the songlist!

Note that if I click on the same album image from the Now Playing cover or from the shelf 3D, then this album show up good in the songlist.
It's not all albums which show up bad when clicked from the up next area, but a lot of them nevertheless!

Thanks.

hi,

Not a big thing but on my PC at:

http://www.audiosoft.net/forums/index.php

ejukebox beta 25 is the latest beta version showed.

This may reduce the amount of people trying the latest beta version.

Cheers, yogui.

CiXel - 7-28-2008 at 05:44 PM

I have b28 showing.

Me thinks you have a cached version.
Try Reloading the page with Cntl+f5

Yogui - 7-29-2008 at 02:05 AM

:o

May be is because I'm using Firefox (with strong security settings).

It's been showing 25 a few times (even after refresh), I reboot last night and is good now.

Sorry if was only my problem.

Cheers, Alberto.

rllercstr7 - 8-3-2008 at 10:58 PM

Hello everyone,
Audiosoft I have a little request for one of the next betas. Currently if you try to execute eJukebox while it is already open you get a message saying eJukebox is already running. Typically if a program can only open one instance it just puts the application into focus/brings it to the top if you try opening it again. Is there any way you can change this to bring eJukebox into focus instead of displaying this message? I use eJukebox with a home theater pc and when I want to get the application in focus when it is already open from my media menu I just get the eJukebox is already running message. Perhaps and easy solution would be to add some switch to the executable such as eJukebox.exe /F that could be used to signify this behavior instead of triggering the current message. I hope that was not to confusing, but it would be really helpful if you could implement something like this.
Thanks!

Yogui - 8-5-2008 at 07:15 AM

SONG LIST LENGTH and BREAK MODES

Hi Ejukebox,

As PCs are getting more powerful every year I think the 100 song list limit is a bit outdated (100 would be good as default length).

I also hate when the last album is cut in half at the 100 song :(

Would be possible to have and ejukebox.ini settings that controls it, say like this:

A) SongListLenght values from 100 to 2000 maximum number of songs loaded on the list

B) SongListBreakMode values Length|Album (may be others)
B1) Length mode is like currently, breaks at the exact song number.
B2) Album mode breaks on the last album before reaching the (A) Length value (but showing a minimum of one album).

hope is a good Idea and not too hard to implement.

Cheers, Yogui.
:D
PD: I've posted on requested features a few days ago, here may have more attention. Thanks.

Fishy - 8-5-2008 at 11:02 AM

A small request. I grab my mp3's from a drive located at a linux server running samba. When the server is down or turned off Ejukebox tries to load the database at startup and hangs while doing this. Maybe an error message such as "database could not be located" or simular could be appropiate? As it works now it just hangs and I have to terminate ejukebox with the task manager.

I second the requests posted above by the way, it would be great to be able to define how many songs that are presented in the songlist :)

Thank you

Pirk - 8-6-2008 at 07:55 PM

Audiosoft, Thank you for your Beta 29!
I'm glad if you managed to relieve the hard drive a bit more. When you listen music it's always appreciable to have the more quiet HD possible..

Fishy - 8-7-2008 at 08:02 PM

Audiosoft, thanks for the latest beta!

A small bug carried over from previous beta-versions: When conducting a search for a non-existing song from the top right search-box above the albumlist an empty album-cover is displayed in the carousel. I think the carousel should be empty, when there is nothing to display.

Spaca - 9-3-2008 at 06:08 PM

Now here is long quiet period... We can't wait next release. :D Is it official v5.0?

Yeah e2web now works on iPhone

rlailey - 9-27-2008 at 10:55 AM

Are there any options for 2web exposed in any ini files or perhaps could there be an option to force Pocket PC format so for pocket browsers that don't get detected as pocket IE within eJ can still benefit from the small portrait style 2web format for mobiles such as the iPhone that report back full screen capabilities?

FLAC support? Really? REALLY?!

You're my hero :D

Installing NOW!

CiXel - 10-22-2008 at 02:28 PM

FLAC importing is still parsing incorrectly.

For instance
Title: D.T.
Artist: AC/DC
Album: Who Made Who

comes across in the DB as:
Title: Who Made Who)
Artist: D.T. (Acdc
Album: Who Made Who

When the imported cut plays from EJ on Winamp and I look at the tag it is correct. Genre and date field didn't make it over either.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/5369/ejflaczp2.th.jpghttp://img236.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif

If it's helpful I can send you a sample so you can parse it.

No problem. Just didn't want to take the time to reimport the database just to check. If I can be of assistance let me know.

Pirk - 11-14-2008 at 09:40 PM

Audiosoft,

It seems you added a new "skinning bug" in eJ beta 33. Since this version the bottom of the artist list displays a large empty artist! If you could remove it..

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 11-14-2008 at 11:35 PM

Thanks Pirk! Will fix in next update.

Audiosoft - 11-30-2008 at 03:56 AM

eJukebox Beta 34 is UP in the first post with new Tag read support for .FLAC, .OGG, .APE, .MPC, .MP4, and .AAC :o (MP3 and WMA already supported)
Tag Write support on these new extensions will be be added to the eJukebox song Editor soon.

34...That's allot of Betas...Allot of progress! About time to start on 5.X's! :D
New users are still downloading 4.90...
Q: should I launch this as the 5.0 installer right now?
or should i add a new Vista compatible CD Ripper for 5.0 or can that wait a little for 5.1?
is there anything else important that should be done before 5.0 launch? Let me know what you think

Yogui - 11-30-2008 at 06:51 AM

Thanks for Beta 34.
You said:
"... updated MEDIA key so it always brings eJukebox to the top."
may we have an .ini setting for this to be optional.
I like to stay on the current win active and just skip a song or change volume etc.

In regards to your question:
Either way for me (I use XP) ;)

By the way, I think new users should start downloading a 5.0 or similar version with all these improvements. May be better wait for the guys who use those file formats to check tag issues. Can't help there only use mp3s.

Talking about improvements, I have to admit that I've been using Windows Media Player 11 and I found a lot of speed improvements on it since WMP 9, specially on large collections. I don't know why but listview321 control (commonly used in windows explorer) are very fast at loading large amounts of items (either files or mp3 db records).

This started 3 weeks ago when I reinstalled windows and made the mistake of activate ejukebox on that installation then found that need to reinstall (for other software problems).
Now just one week to go for the one registration a month limit.
(I know I could contact ejukebox but I rather wait)

Well the point is that, I think you should consider to cut down the limit to 2 weeks or so. Yes may be some people will reinstall more oftenly but you will have less people using other players in the mean time which involves the risk of loosing costumers.

Cheers, Yogui.

Audiosoft - 11-30-2008 at 07:01 AM

Thanks Yogi i will consider that. Also it is only one key the actual "Media" key on the keyboard not each of the media keys (play pause >>;) that brings the window to the top.

Beta 35 is up with new tag WRITE support in the Editor on all those new READ extensions in Beta 34 plus wma.

CiXel - 11-30-2008 at 04:11 PM

Yea!
Tag importing from FLAC files seems to be working successfully.

One thing I did notice but was unable to reproduce:
I cleared my database to test and then imported some FLAC files. Once I imported the files they showed up fine under album view etc, but the Artists list remained blank until I cycled EJ. I noticed the songs in database count did not populate during the import, but like I said subsequent loads worked fine (I did it about 5 times with FLACs MP3's and mixed) so, probably nothing to worry about. just thought I'd mention.

One small thing. Since we can import multiple file types now including videos, the database update manager should now probably say instead of
loading Mp3 info

something like
loading file info or loading file metadata

With the multi-file import in play among other things, it's probably time to increment this to 5.0 leaving the Vista ripping for a future revision. The current b35 has quite a few enhancements over 4.90 that it's probably time to establish it as a new baseline.

Audiosoft,

Thanks for all these new file extensions now fully supported in eJukebox! GREAT job. Even if I've not tested yet..

EJukebox v5? Well.. it's -still- welcome of course. I think many of us are (was?) expecting a spectacular feature for this occasion: What are the news about the new Homeview, for instance? And what about the multiple "Up next" songs with several covers displayed? You know.. Like in our old dreams!! :o

NB: Know that my Crimson skin is ready for a possible Multiple Up Next Autoplay feature! :)
Only covers are missing inside the additional frames.. :(

Audiosoft - 12-5-2008 at 10:33 PM

Thanks for the suggestions!
What do you think about having album icons in the playlist instead of track times? SEE PL in Screenshot. Have been testing it out but can't make the album icons too big because that creates to much space between playlist tracks and then it can't fit as many songs. So the album icons have to be small 25px for the first and they gradually get smaller for effect. When you mouse over the album icons they loose transparency and get a little bigger. Can drag to move full album in playlist and right click them for menu to remove album from the playlist. When you regular click album icons in playlist they get a little bigger and load the songlist for the album.

Let me know what you think. Might make album icons in the playlist the default option since it has less overhead than track times and is more functional.

I think offering this as an option would be great, especially if there's a performance boost due to less overhead. A nice way to handle this in options could be to allow both time and cover in the list and maybe have two check boxes to choose which to display... I just like making more work for you :P

Dyno Don - 12-6-2008 at 10:18 PM

I would like it too. The viseos don't tell ej their run times so the number is always a joke, 28:33 for a three minute song, etc. Making them covers would be great.

Don

Ah ahh.. Interesting!
My first idea was to have maybe 3 additionals Up Next area displaying images of the same size than the current up next. And the current up next would have a little larger image.. But I guess that will need much work to program.
However your idea seems to be good, too! So you would add small covers instead of time, using decreasing size.. I think it looks less impressive than large covers, but I prefer that than nothing!

Thanks a lot.

Pirk - 12-7-2008 at 07:29 PM

Audiosoft,
Sorry for the delay before my reaction, :D but I think I'm not dreaming: You have unearthed a very old screenshot, isn't it? ;)
I think it's time to give solid form to this project! Maybe dusting it off if possible, like my Crimson skin..

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 12-8-2008 at 09:37 AM

Beta 36 is up!

Can add now add a 'visoralbumlistbar.png' to your skin if you want an alpha PNG over the albumlist bar. It will automatically stretch the PNG horizontally to match the edv or non edv width.

Pirk - 12-8-2008 at 10:08 AM

Wow, Beta 36 is a real progress. Even if they are very small the image icons in the playlist are looking great, and also very useful. The mouse over effect is great. Excellent work Audiosoft!

Thanks a lot.

Audiosoft - 12-8-2008 at 10:45 AM

Glad you like the album icons Pirk.
BTW this still needs work but here is the png that I was playing with in Crimson :o

Pirk - 12-8-2008 at 08:36 PM

Ah great, another visor! I'll see what I can do with it. Thanks for this new skinning possibility.

Dyno Don - 12-9-2008 at 11:27 PM

I too like the little icons. Can they get any bigger? You probably have them maxed out anyway.

Thanks!

CiXel - 12-10-2008 at 11:28 AM

Maybe (akin to the album view) you could have a Large / Small option

Pirk - 12-10-2008 at 09:41 PM

Audiosoft,

I see that I'm not the only one to ask for large album arts in the playlist.. So here is my feeling. I think it's a good compromise:

Why not to enlarge and highlight by default the first cover of each album (in fact, each "first similar" cover) in the playlist? That would give rhythm to the playlist, without wasting to much room.. (besides avoiding any visit to the ophthalmologist!) :o

Thanks.

blackcat - 12-11-2008 at 07:52 PM

Where's the option to turn off the tiny album art in the playlist and show the song length again?

Pirk - 12-11-2008 at 08:36 PM

I can't find any time option in this beta too. Probably that will be for the next update.

Audiosoft - 12-12-2008 at 08:31 AM

Beta 37 is up! There is a new option for album icons/track lengths at end of display options.

Let me know what you think about the new skin editing menu on Tools. (does not show in Kiosk mode)
Not a full blown editor or anything but its a start don't you think? or is it to much and should be hidden by default until you enable an option for it?

blackcat - 12-12-2008 at 09:47 AM

Thanks Audiosoft

Pirk - 12-12-2008 at 10:17 AM

Handy Audiosoft, the skin editing menus will be very handy. No more need to browse again eJukebox folders each time the system is restarted. It's a invitation to skinning.. I'm glad of that.
Otherwise, thanks for the icons/track lengths option. And.. there is nothing for large icons? What do you think of my "compromise" in my previous post?

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 12-12-2008 at 10:22 AM

The problem with larger icons is if you put a bunch of single songs by different artists/albums one after another then allot less songs can fit in the display. I'll add a way for you to set the size in the skin when i get a chance.

Pirk - 12-12-2008 at 10:33 AM

Indeed, that would be wonderful if we could skin the size of the icons! I hope you can add this feature very soon.. I'm sure many people are waiting for that.

Thanks a lot.

I think if we have decent (in size) album arts in the playlist, in Playlist Mode, you can Hide the Up Next area without any drawback.. So a lot of room is recovered for larger icons! QED :o
Furthermore, when you'll add a way to set the playlist icons size in the skin, could you also allow skinners to set the Autoplay Image size?
I think here is good matter for a right v5!!

Thank you so much in advance.

PS: There are two small bugs in beta37: When in playlist mode, if you hide the up next area, a tiny No Cover icon is displayed instead of all the album icons. And also the first icon in the playlist is not "over-enlarged" when you mouse over it.

Audiosoft - 12-12-2008 at 10:36 PM

Thanks for report on when upnext disabled Pirk. Will fix that soon.
what do you want to be able to skin? the size of the first unique album icon? will try it with the first unique album icon the size it is when it is moused over all the time

Pirk - 12-12-2008 at 10:48 PM

I think bigger icons (not inevitably udge size) would make sense for the first song (first similar cover) of each album in the playlist. All the other songs of the albums can display the tiny icon or even the song length.

So, yes Audiosoft, I would like to skin the image size of the first song of each album; and also the size of the upnext album image (for when we are in autoplay mode), if possible. :)

PS: I don't know what you call "first unique album icon"?

Pirk - 12-13-2008 at 12:37 AM

Audiosoft,

I've just made a quick mock-up of how could look the playlist with "large" icons in a near future. I've added the album names! We could also add total time for each.. But maybe it's too complicated, we can start more simply. The most important to my eyes is to have a large icon for each album, in order to rhythm the playlist! And I would not be against to be able to enlarge a bit more the album arts in the skin..

So in fact I think the best would be that you can add a "Album Header" displayed for each album in the playlist. :o

Thanks!

Pirk - 12-19-2008 at 11:49 AM

"-fixed Show Album Icons in Playlist was not working when Upnext display disabled":

Thank you Audiosoft.

Audiosoft - 12-25-2008 at 11:26 AM

Look under the tree and what do you see? Beta 39 is up!
Check out the larger album icons in the playlist and the new songlist transition animation option when you get a chance and let me know what you think

Pirk - 12-26-2008 at 12:09 PM

Audiosoft, thanks a lot for your Christmas gift! :o
I like the enlarged first album cover in the playlist, looking better and better as you enlarge images..
New songlist animation: Interesting effect it inspires the songlist with energy!

Keep up in this way and.. you will hit a reindeer to carry your gifts! :D

Merry Christmas!

Audiosoft - 12-29-2008 at 01:42 AM

Beta 40 is up! Check out the new Up Next transition animation under display options

Pirk - 12-29-2008 at 01:02 PM

Your new transitions are looking great, Audiosoft. It's like pages you slide. I don't know how you make that, but it's a fine effect!
Is it a flash animation?

Audiosoft - 1-2-2009 at 03:13 AM

Glad you like the transition animations Pirk! It's not Flash just my invention!

5 Beta 41 is up with a new Vista compatible ripper based on lame encoder! :o
Please test it out and let me know if there are any problems.
You might need to restart Vista once after installing to get the new Ripper to start working. Let me know if you do.
Full and Upgrade installer links are in the first post.

Pirk - 1-2-2009 at 11:49 AM

Nice new ripper Audiosoft! I'm glad the ripper is finally available in Vista. Thanks for you work.

And it seems it works perfectly! :) I've dusted a cd for the occasion..

Aha Wow, it seems you have more than one trick in your bag! This effect is really Amazing!

VWBUG - 1-2-2009 at 03:17 PM

CD Ripper crashes EJ when using options/update databse/ripCD and doesn't open the CD ripper at all when choosing the option from the tools menu. Also when I downloaded the Update and instal wanted to reset up database, should this happen?

Audiosoft - 1-2-2009 at 03:25 PM

VWBUG no that should not happen. Are you on Vista? Did you upgrade to Program FileseJukebox folder? If yes download and run the 4.99.42 full install to C:eJukebox. Then Restart and see what happens. It should work good from there and the next time you run an upgrade it should go smoothly.

VWBUG - 1-4-2009 at 12:05 PM

When running the instal I get in71.exe - entry point not found
The procedure entry point GetVersionExl could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL

Audiosoft - 1-4-2009 at 12:19 PM

please ignore msdart error. its just from the installer. happens at the end on win2k and vista...means nothing. wish i could fix that.

Audiosoft - 1-14-2009 at 09:25 AM

beta 45 is up!

Pirk - 1-14-2009 at 01:46 PM

Thanks for this update. But it seems the upgrade and setup files are not good: "Not a win32 valid application"?

Audiosoft - 1-14-2009 at 11:56 PM

Thanks Pirk, those installers never finished uploading. they are now good to download! the IE7 fix wasn't easy...glad to finally figure a good way to make EJ compatible regardless of that IE7 setting!

Pirk - 1-15-2009 at 12:27 PM

Ok Audiosoft, I've reinitialized my IE7 security settings and eJ beta 45 seems to continue to work. Perfect!

So now it would just need you find a installer without the "msdart.dll" error.. for the new users.

rlailey - 2-1-2009 at 01:41 PM

Your full installer routine installs by default to C:eJukebox. This is non Microsoft Windows Logo compliant. Should either be C:Program Files or C:Program Files (x86).

Installation also produced a msdart.dll error message on my new build machine which I seem to remember from another post is not important - not exactly slick though!

No uninstall option in Programs and Features - oh and the uninstall executable on the program folder leaves more files and settings behined than it actually removes... why should anyone want to uninstall this beta you ask?

CiXel - 2-1-2009 at 02:23 PM

Congrats on fixing the IE7 routine.

While a change here would be required, this is easily remedied by using the %PROGRAMFILES% variable.
That will determine where 'Program Files' exists even if it is a non-standard directory.

rlailey - 2-1-2009 at 02:42 PM

The %ProgramFiles% system environment variable is the WRONG variable to use since eJukebox is natively a 32-bit version, so on Windows Vista x64 and Server 2008 x64 (as I'm using, but has the same kernel as Vista x64) this would incorrectly return C:Program Files as opposed to C:Program Files (x86) - the correct file location for 32-bit applications running on 64-bit operating systems.

But that's not all that's incorrect with the full installation routine - album art that has not yet been downloaded does not show the default blank album art but a red X in the top left hand corner indicating the image is unavailable.

I recommend the full installer is NOT USED AT ALL on the Beta version, but instead install the non-beta version and upgrade

Krobar - 2-1-2009 at 04:48 PM

Wanted to say thanks for what looks like the most useful addition I have seen in a while, APEV2 tag support.

The old trick to set compilations with ASNCOMP=1 does not seem to work with ID3V2 or APEV2. How are we supposed to tag an album as a compilation?

Update: I think the Compilation problem may have something to do with the album folder name being "Various Artists - Album Name" (Fixed album scroll buttons too)

Fishy - 2-3-2009 at 10:52 PM

Audiosoft,
could you add "clear playlist" to the right-click menu of the playlist? This is a basic and regularly used feature as I see it. And it is a little unhandy that one have to clear one and one artist as it is structured now.

I do know that this feature is located at the menu-button at the left of the playlist. However, I do think the most intuitive way of manipulating the playlist, at least for simple tasks such as clearing the list, is through the right-click menu.

Others may disagree of course.
