eJ Crimson 2 Skin
Pirk - 3-10-2007 at 09:53 PM

Here is my skin eJ Crimson 2 UPDATED for eJukebox 4.5:

- Following a suggestion of Audiosoft, I've added a new graphic layer in the Artistlist for the artist letters and artist rows, embellished with 2 attractive icons.. (cf my screenshot)
- A new "blue CD" on the songlist search box.
- Improved the Songlist Header graphics: blue cd, here too..
- Tried to improve the songlist browsing buttons, better blending.. Tell me if you like?
- Added a new "Play Now" green icon in the songlist-large. Of course, the two other songlist styles are still available!
- Improved the Nocover image of rllercstr7, well I hope. ;)
- Also added his great "aluminium" star rating back in the Now Playing panel. Thanks for your graphics rllercstr7!
- Improved more the songlist browsing buttons, helped by rllercstr7..
- Updated my skin for the new Scroll Sliders: The transparent RED slider was designed by Audiosoft.. It's a nice piece of work!!

NB: This skin requires Internet Explorer 7 for transparency effects.. but it can also works in IE6!

To install: Download the attached zip file and save it to C:Program FileseJukeboxSkinseJ_Crimson2.zip. Then activate eJ_Crimson2 on the Skins section of the Tools button menu.

A new version of this skin 'eJ Crimson 3' is also available for download from there: http://www.audiosoft.net/forums/viewthread.php?tid=2110

Nice Pirk. Thanks for adding in my graphic. I like what you have done with the artist list. One thing that would be cool although I don't think its possible for you to do it without some help is to have the little graphics that are now on the artist list next to each artists name cue up every song by that artist. This would maybe stop the text from going over the little images too. I notice that in your screenshot the little images in the songlist under the play now header are different than what came in the download. The image on mine has the little cd and music not, which I think I prefer anyways. It is also probably more intuitive for new users. One thing I am a little curious about is what the red box around the forward/back arrows is for? Great improvements Pirk! I especially like the cd over the search area, that was a really great idea :D

rllercstr7 - 3-11-2007 at 05:48 PM

Pirk in fact it is not just the icon which is different from the screen shot in the download mine looks like the screenshot below. I really like the things you did with it except that green button to replace the cd and music note as I mentioned.

Pirk - 3-11-2007 at 08:05 PM

rllercstr7, my skin looks different for you simply because you have the EXTRA-LARGE version of the songlist selected.. It looks great isn't it? :)
With my skin you have the ability to choose between THREE sizes for the songlist: one with Normal font for the text, a second one with a Large font, and a third displaying some Extra-large text and graphics.
You just need to RIGHT CLICK somewhere on the songlist and select the size you prefer in the contextual menu that appears!

Concerning the red box around the forward/back arrows: this is a attempt in order to blend more the buttons in the skin.. I would like the arrows be quite incrusted into the black bar, but as I'm not talented, maybe I failed! :D If someone could help me, I'm not against.. ;)

Glad you like the blue cd and the artistlist! :)
The 2 icons that are next each artists are there just for the decoration, but I agree that would be great if Audiosoft could activate them for a specific action.. Concerning the text sometimes going over the icons, I could avoid that by increasing the "left-padding" in the skin. Of course if the icons were actives that would be necessary.

Otherwise, it seems that you don't like the new green icon! I can change it very easily.. That was just to test a new feature rescently added by Audiosoft! I will see for the next version.

rllercstr7 - 3-11-2007 at 09:33 PM

Ah ok, I didn't realize you had different styles for the different sizes. What do you think of this golden brown letter header Pirk? I've been playing around with colors, maybe I will look at the area around the forward/back buttons.

Pirk - 3-11-2007 at 09:49 PM

rllercstr7, I like much your golden brown letter header. Can you lend me your version?
And I'm very interested if you come up with a better integration of my forward/back buttons..

rllercstr7 - 3-11-2007 at 11:08 PM

Ok Pirk Here is the version of that header:

rllercstr7 - 3-11-2007 at 11:10 PM

And a new Top.jpg. You need to add each graphic for it to look right. Heres the result:

Nice work rllercstr7, I like the way you have blended the buttons.

Thanks a lot!

rllercstr7 - 3-12-2007 at 05:21 PM

Sure. Glad I could halp with your masterpiece Pirk!

Pirk - 3-13-2007 at 10:42 PM

I've tried to polish up the buttons blending..

Pirk - 3-13-2007 at 10:43 PM

..

Pirk - 3-13-2007 at 10:48 PM

Guys, do you prefer this last version or the original with the Red frame??

Audiosoft - 3-13-2007 at 11:03 PM

Pirk, I like the latest one!

BTW I think you should change the scroll button over the artistlist color to black so it blends it together. That is the in colors.ini

[ScrollButtonArtistList0]
Background=0

Also, maybe

[ArtistBarCloseToggle]
Background=0

Basically make it look good as possible with the scroll buttons because I have added skinnable PNG scroll sliders for the artist, songlist and albumlists that will eventually only work when showing the buttons.

Pirk - 3-13-2007 at 11:22 PM

Well.. I'm not sure the artistlist looks better with more black buttons?

Skinnable PNG scroll sliders?! Wow.. great! So I'll have something more to skin!! :D

Audiosoft - 3-13-2007 at 11:27 PM

I think that scroll button looks allot better black!

You got that ejukebox.exe that I had post above right? If you add artistslider.png to your skin folder that exe will show the sliders after you load your skin. Also make sure to enable scroll buttons and disable scrollbars because the sliders will not work with the scrollbars in the next version.

You can edit the artistslider.png and make it bigger or a different shape if you want too. I still need to add an option to enable/disable sliders and fix some things up so I removed that exe download. Just wanted you to be able to try it out so you can mess with the artistslider.png. Let me know what you think.

Pirk - 3-13-2007 at 11:59 PM

scroll button better in black!? Ahh.. maybe I'm too familiar with my red version.

Thanks a lot for this new exe Audiosoft! :) The new slider is very handy and looks very good for the Artistlist. Concerning the songlist and albumlist.. on first try I think maybe that is less obvious.
What is sure is the shadow effect on your slider is excellent! :o

Audiosoft - 3-14-2007 at 12:04 AM

Maybe I should just disable the the sliders over the album and songlist for now. make the slider just for the the artist list. What do you think?

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 12:36 AM

Thanks for this precious stone Audiosoft! It looks great too, transparency is a real improvement. Concerning the position of the slider on the song and albumlist, the thing is as there are two scrolling methods at the same time they are not easy to combine without that be confusing, but I think the transparency will help much.. That will be great if we can use different versions of the slider for each panel.

rllercstr7 - 3-14-2007 at 04:09 AM

Hi Pirk. I think both the red and the black scroll bars look good as long as they are both the same color, however I may be a little partial towards the red as you are. I like how you adjusted my graphic for the forward/back arrows.

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 12:45 PM

Audiosoft, maybe you could couple the song and albumlist sliders with the Touch screen option?
I don't have a touch screen at home, but I think if the slider follows the user finger, maybe that will be handy for a touchscreen use?
The Artistlist slider would be always available, touchscreen or not, but only if the user wants it!

Hi rllercstr7, in fact I haved already tried the artistlist buttons in black, red.. And the close expand buttons in white don't shock me, or at least I like the shock.. However things can still change!

Audiosoft - 3-14-2007 at 07:14 PM

Pirk,

I have added 2 checkbox options to the display options to enable/disable the Sliders; one for the Artistlist and one for the Songlist/Albumlist. The Artistlist one will be enabled by default. The Sliders on the Songlist/Albumlist look better I think if they are aligned with the right side of eJukebox instead of the right side of the songlist. So they appear to the right of the up and down arrows on the right side scroll buttons. Next I will add a sliders.ini to allow the skin to change the horizontal alignment for the sliders and allow for different PNGs for each slider.

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 08:29 PM

Ok, thanks Audiosoft.

Otherwise I haved another idea: maybe the song and albumlist sliders could be on the left side? So they would not interfere..

Audiosoft - 3-14-2007 at 08:52 PM

How about something like this?

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 09:07 PM

Well.. it's not as bad as that! When the sliders are totally transparent, they don't interfere much.. while they are still usable!

Audiosoft - 3-14-2007 at 09:26 PM

yeah i think the right side of the screen makes the most sense for those sliders. maybe even more to the right.

BTW really nice job with the artist list in your skin! :o I am using it allot more now that it has a nice looking artist list!

Audiosoft - 3-14-2007 at 09:36 PM

this one has the options to enable and disable the sliders plus it cleans up some issues with them

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 09:39 PM

Glad you like my last artistlist update! I've made it (at night) thanks to your suggestion.. :)

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 10:04 PM

Thank you very much for this update Audiosoft. The sliders on full right are great, they look like some nice cursors!

Pirk - 3-14-2007 at 10:25 PM

Wow! Thanks a lot Audiosoft for this new transparent RED slider: It looks awesome in my skin!

I'm always impressed by your incredible skill to continually improve eJukebox more.. :o

Pirk - 3-16-2007 at 10:50 PM

I've updated my skin for eJukebox v4.5: The new Scroll Sliders are now included in the zip file, plus the browsing buttons with a better blending..

rllercstr7 - 3-19-2007 at 01:44 AM

Wow, a lot has happened since my last visit. I will have to give it a try :D

rllercstr7 - 4-12-2007 at 05:26 AM

Pirk I think I found a little, bug although I am not totally sure. If a song is playing that has no album name entered the black bar that it is displayed in fails to show up at all. Also if the album does not have a cover image and uses the nocover.png one by dfault the album bar raises up about 8 pixels displaying a red line right above the playtime slider bar. I just thought these looked a bit odd and most of the time these scenarios would not come into effect, but I just happened to add a song not released on any album yet. :D

You probably mean: A bug in eJukebox that prevents my skin to work good?! :D
Quote:

OK.. you are right, I already noticed this problem when I made my skin.. The reason for that is the black bar results of a wave filter applied on the album name; and unfortunately when there is no album name, the filter doesn't work!

I think this is the same "bug" than above: probably no album name too.. I could say you a Audiosoft style reply: Just edit the missing album names! Or, well "I will see what I can do". ;)

Unless you have another solution, Audiosoft?
I think that would be great if you could add a few pixels between the album name and the play controls. So the play controls would stand out more.. and the slider area would be more accessible.

Thanks.

rllercstr7 - 4-12-2007 at 06:23 PM

Yeah as I said the song just happened to have no album yet. Usually my songs do have all the information entered. The black bar raises with the nocover.png image even if an album name is entered.

Pirk - 4-12-2007 at 06:34 PM

Ah?! not for my part:

rllercstr7 - 4-12-2007 at 10:05 PM

Hmm, thats odd. If I take one of my newly added songs with no album name or cover image and give it a random album name in the eJukebox editor and then play it; my Now Playing windows looks like this:

Pirk - 4-12-2007 at 10:43 PM

Ohh! :o bizarre.. Since I've made my skin I've never seen a such thing, and I use my skin exclusively!

Pirk - 5-15-2007 at 08:52 PM

Thanks a lot for featuring my skin on your site Audiosoft!

I'm still working on this skin: eJ Crimson, version 3 will come soon guys! Hopefully before the weekend..
I've added a new background for the artist list, it now looks very attractive! I've also improved much of the songlist graphics..
Have a look here: eJ Crimson 3 Preview

Audiosoft - 5-15-2007 at 10:15 PM

Looking good Pirk. I will update the featured skin to v3 when you put it up!
