0.09 Second / Song

In order to test the eJukebox import files speed, I just tried to build a new database from another eJukebox install (v5 beta 17).

Verdict: 0.09 second / song! Which means a average of only one second for each album, cover included!! :o

I think it's a respectable performance! In particular because this import speed never slow down during the hour taken to scan all my files.

Nice work Audiosoft!

I finally got EJ to take today without crashing by doing a clean install into c:\program files\ejukebox.
The import was MUCH better than it has been.
Before I had tried instlalls in W:\program files\ejukebox (which is my 'home' windows directory) as well as w:\ejukebox and e:\ejukebox

Might there be some hard coded value that is looking for c:\program files\ejukebox ?
Has anyone else intalled these new sets of beta's into an 'alternate' directory?

My current testing directory is C:\Program Files\eJukebox2 with v5 beta 17, no problem.

I still can't seem to get ejukebox to continue playing songs. I will have say 30 songs in playlist and I HAVE to hit the play button or it will remove the next song in the list til the list is gone... Any ideas?

goldfinger515, you are using eJukebox with the internal player and not winamp right?

Yea I am using the internal player. I had a feeling that is what it was but it's been like that for quite a few betas now and thought it would've been fixed or was something else. I was going to try winamp but last time I used it I didn't like it. If the next beta or even one after that fixes it that would be great!

goldfinger515, make sure the following option is checked.
Tools->Options->Sound tab->Prevent Playback Stoppage

This should make sure it automatically goes to the next song. Also the pause button will still work good with that checked. Let me know if that fixes the problem for you for not.

I read about that in another post and yes it is checked. I tried numerous options and nothing seems to keep the music playing.

goldfinger515,

Does it play them before removing them from the playlist?
If you don't want the songs to be removed from the playlist after they play then do this:

Click the "Menu" button top left above the playlist and click Loop. When Loop is checked on the menu eJukebox will not remove the song from the playlist after it plays it.

Ok it works this way. I will put say 10 songs into a playlist. None will play til I hit the play button. After the first song it will then act as if it going to play the next song but never does and after say eight seconds of waiting it removes it from the playlist as if it just was played.

Does that make any sense to you? Not sure why it does that but eh it does.

what file type are these songs? mp3 or something else? enabling the use winamp option might be the only way.

What version of Winamp are you using?
Might 'manual playlist advance' be set in winamp prefs under playlist options?

Have you tried running winamp 2.9x instead?

I've been using the internal player so I dont use more resources than I have to. I havent tried winamp as I have had issues in the past with it but I guess may be my only way... I will try tomorrow and let you know.

if you use winamp 2.9x which you can get from here:
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winamp
your resource load will be still quite low.
Beyond that it opens up the ability to introduce music shaping plugins should you so choose (granted they would use more resources). I think that's your best bet.

I will have to try that. My pc that has ejukebox on has more than enough but would max out my old 3.0 p4. Gonna try on my 4200+ x2 and see how much it uses.

I run it on a 2.4 athlon XP, so I don't hink a 3 ghz p4 is going to have much issue. Just make sure you have enough memory on the system so you can run EJ in RAM for the performance boost.

The exact same thing happened when I installed version 5. The internal windows media player wouldn't play songs unless I manually hit play on each song...but winamp worked fine.

I just ended up reinstalling ver 4.90, so the internal player would work again.

I've had the same problem as the others.

WinAmp & Internal player don't work properly in the beta 21 either.

I'm going back to 4.90 until it's fixed.

Yea I just tried it and it still doesn't work for me either. Tried changing more settings and even a skin hoping that for some odd reason it would work.

I just tried beta 21. Winamp will play the songs in the playlist, but the internal player still just shuffles through them unless I press the play button.

ok sorry 21 didn't help. thought it would. trying to figure out why it is going wrong for you guys.
When you click the play icon in the songlist does the song show in now playing and start playing with the internal player and beta 21?
what about the >> button? does it start playing after clicking that?

not sure if this is related but I just noticed a problem with the multimedia keyboard << and >> keys. When holding those key down it was repeating the operation and going to next song after next song. that will be fixed in beta 22 so one << or >> multimedia key press only moves 1 song no matter how long you hold the key down.

Yes...the song shows up in the now playing window in 21. But it won't play unless you hit the play button.

When you click >> it will go to the next song, but the song will just sit there for a moment and then skip to the next one unless the play button is clicked.

it was beta 22, there was nothing special about the album name it was kid rock, rock and roll jesus.

i installed ej on my laptop last night and switched my license to it and then added just that album to the database because my other computer with ej would not load it no matter what i did with the mp3 tags. when i loaded the album it only loaded 3 songs and i could only see them if i click on home. there it showed the album cover as one of the top 5 songs when i click on that album it gave me a blank cover in the shelf 3d and then gave me that error.

i don't know why it will not show this album as i create all my mp3s exactly the same and just double checked and the id3 tags are just like my others songs but it seems to have an issue with this album

ok. so i re-did the tag 3 different times and then rebuilt the database and now the album comes in and does not give the error i shown above when clicking on the album in the home
