Accents are not transmitted correctly in the eJ INFO LINKS
Pirk - 11-20-2005 at 04:25 PM

When I search (in Amazon.fr or elsewhere) for a non-english Artist or Album having some accents in its name using the eJukebox "Info Links", the web site returns a "not found" message because accents are not transmitted correctly:

Artist -> Wrong result in Amazon:
Manset, Gérard -> Manset,+Gérard
Raphaël -> Raphaël
Sévères, Les -> Sévères,+Les
Téléphone -> Téléphone
Tôles Ondulées, Les -> Tôles+Ondulées,+Les

Album -> Wrong result in Amazon:
La bûche -> La+bûche
Eros Über Alles -> Eros+Ãœber+Alles
En liberté -> En+liberté
...

Audiosoft,
That would be great if you could add the support for accents in the eJukebox Info Links, like you have already done elsewhere in eJ... :)

Thanks a lot.

PS: This problem also occurs for song names with accents when I search for Lyrics...

PS2: A small bug, but a strange one:
Try to add this link in your quicklinks.ini file:

[Artiste sur Amazon.fr]
URL=http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=music-fr&field-fieldmap=keywords:artist&field-keywords=#artist#

Then the link will appear in your Info links menu like that:
"Artiste sur Amazon.fr]" instead of "Artiste sur Amazon.fr": There is a unwanted "]" at the end! And the link don't works.. Why ??
But if you remove the "]" in the quicklinks.ini file, that fix all!! :D

Willum,
The problem I'm talking only occurs when you use the eJukebox web "Info Links" menus.

Concerning your problem, I think you have 2 solutions:
- Either you fix your id3 tags v1 AND v2 before importing your files in eJ, then you use the option "Don't perform case fixing" when you import your mp3s.
- Or you can also (try to) let eJukebox to do the job for you...
(I prefer to fix the id3 tags myself before importing, because eJukebox don't understand very well the French case!)

Normally both work good! ;)

Ok, Pirk, will try that ..... some other time :-) I'm going to sleep now and will take a look at it next week or so. :cool:
