eJukebox compatible with IE9? IE9STANDARDS
Pirk - 9-15-2010 at 07:27 PM

Audiosoft, i installed IE9 beta. do you think EJ should be totally compatible with it ?

I tried EJ with IE9. Here are some little bugs i noticed:

Songlist:
-PNG PlayImages have rough borders!
-.title div content is not positioned exactly like previously with IE8

Artistlist:
-it seems the font i used in .Artist is not loaded

And what about border-radius? it seems it doesn't work!?

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 9-15-2010 at 09:51 PM

Pirk, IE9 Final should make EJ faster and allow for even better EJ skins.
When IE9 is released i will make sure old skins look as good as possible with it which hopefully will be perfect. There might be a way to force it to render with IE7 quirks if needed. Until then recommend IE8 for EJ over IE9 beta.

I am interested to know...do the filter:'s work with EJ and IE9 beta?
Does all the functionality work? Drag and Drop and text clicks?
Does the text scroll on the now playing?

Pirk - 9-16-2010 at 11:31 AM

yes the filters work normally with EJ and IE9 beta. drag and drop and text clicks too. the text scrolls on the now playing. it seems all the functionality work good.
the only problems i noticed are those i reported in my previous post.
i can't see any IE7 or IE8 mode in IE9 beta. it seems it's not like with the previous IE9 demos.
i will see if i reinstall IE8 or not just for EJ. because i would like to test border-radius in EJ skins! otherwise i use Firefox for Internet, because it blocks all the advertisements...

Pirk - 9-17-2010 at 12:30 PM

Audiosoft, i don't know if this anim effect is intentional or not. i rather think it's since i installed IE9.. not easy to capture!

Audiosoft - 9-17-2010 at 09:47 PM

Pirk,

wow that looks like the 'Animate Songlist Transitions' option but drawn all at once. i wonder is the 'up next animation' is also that bad with IE9?
you can disable both animations on the Display tab.

Hopefully Microsoft will fix those things in IE9 final and it will have better hardware graphics acceleration than IE8.

Pirk - 9-18-2010 at 10:48 AM

yes the 'up next animation' is also slow with IE9. all the panels have this slow speed effect. the transition takes maybe 1/2 second, but it seems there is a additional drag effect.

Audiosoft - 9-20-2010 at 02:21 AM

OK have added code to detect when it is IE9
with this exe if IE9 detection works it should skip the 2 transition animations even when those options are checked. Will revisit the animations when IE9 final comes out.

Replace over existing C:EJukeboxejukebox.exe

Pirk - 9-20-2010 at 01:09 PM

with this exe the IE9 detection doesn't work, but it's not a problem since i can deactivate these animations from the EJ menu. i can wait IE9 final, i just reported so that you are aware in advance.. however i don't know if it's because IE9 or EJ but 'border-radius' don't work yet in EJukebox? maybe you can allow border-radius in .dis files?

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 9-21-2010 at 09:24 AM

tested IE9 beta and now playing does not animate anymore for me. does yours animate?
it is IE9 engine because the IE9 demos are working for me in EJ's browser
you should be able to get a border radius demo to work in EJ .dis if it works in EJ's web browser

Pirk - 9-21-2010 at 11:37 AM

no you are right, for me too now playing does not animate with IE9 beta.
Quote:

i also think like you.. but i tried border radius in EJ in real conditions with IE9 BETA installed, not using one of their previous DEMOS. and when i add this in songlist.dis .titleedithi:

border-color:#FCFCFC;
border-style:solid;
border-width:1;
border-radius:10px;

the borders still remains 100% square!

So finally i think maybe some of the new features announced for IE9 are not totally implemented or allowed yet in this first IE9 beta? but in this case they should call it 'Alpha', not 'Beta'.

[EDIT]
border-radius is implemented in IE9 beta:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/ff468705.aspx#_CSS3_BG_Borders
Why border radius doesn't work in EJukebox? Mystery...

Audiosoft - 9-22-2010 at 09:56 AM

Thanks for that link Pirk!

Ran some tests with IE9 beta and EJ:
The good news is: all EJ skins work and look almost exactly the same on IE9beta as IE7 and 8.

The bad news is: with IE9 beta the only way radius and opacity work is if you set it to run in 'IE9 standards mode'.

When I forced EJ to run the lists in IE9 standards mode the radius worked but allot of things stopped functioning and did not look right.
So we probably will not be able to use radius etc on the lists without breaking current skins...unless the 'IE9 quirks mode' in the final is better by supporting radius and opacity and still older things like alpha filter.

We will see. Once IE9 final is out i will test again.
Maybe then i can update some of the lists to be able to work in IE9 standards mode so you can use the new css. If not we could still use IE9 standards mode for the next 2Web and/or home view.

Pirk - 9-22-2010 at 12:23 PM

Audiosoft, can't you give us a way to switch oneself the IE9 mode in EJ to 'IE9 standards mode'? So I can fix my current skin for IE9 mode and add border radius. I don't care if a new edition of my skin is not compatible with IE7 and 8. That will just be a skin for IE9 in advance! Like my Crimson skin with PNG images was only for IE7..

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 9-22-2010 at 09:33 PM

IE9 quirks mode is thankfully default and works fine with EJ. The problem with forcing EJ to run IE9 beta 'standards mode' now is the songlist does not work and the other lists do not function and/or look right because there are conflicts with the layout, mouse events and allot more.

i did make some updates to the lists to make them functional with ie9 beta standards mode (and still compatible with older IE) but there are some things ie9 standards no longer supports. To get everything to work in the mode i will need to rewrite a huge amount of code and i will need a reliable IE9 detection method (which currently eludes me since IE9 beta reports to EJ as IE7) so that i could preserve the old code for IE8 and lower. Also it is probably best to wait until IE9 final so that i do not waste time trying to convert things that might not ultimately need converted since final quirks may add support for the new css features.

Replace attached exe over existing C:EJukeboxejukebox.exe

You can now test and see radius work and what doesn't work/looks different in IE9 beta standards mode...
With this exe and v3.34+ you can...
enter the following commands in the EJ SEARCH box to change the render mode for all the lists:

IE9STANDARDS
or
IE9QUIRKS

Make sure you use all CAPITAL LETTERS...after entering the command you will get a message box. then you need to refresh/progress the list you are looking at in EJ to see it in the new rendering mode.

btw eventually we may want to do things like run the artist list in quirks and the album list in standards. i could make that possible by adding a new optional ini style setting in each .dis in the future.

A few of the things i notice in this exe with forced IE9STANDARDS mode:
-allot of links that should have hand or arrow cursor have text selection cursor (not sure how to fix)
-the songlist, artistlist and albumlist scroll sliders are not getting their position.
-Now playing cover/video does not resize when you change the now playing height. (tested and why this happens makes no sense to me yet may be a ie9 beta bug)
-Playlist background gradient in Vinyl is getting cut and playlist link styling does not look right (how to fix? maybe possible in playlist.dis)
-Homeview is centering the texts instead of aligning to the left (probally an easy fix maybe in homeview.ini)
-the biggest issue to deal with...the Songlist...mouse events are non-functional (only drag and drop and Netrelated work) and artist arrows are not stretching to match. plus there are sporadic empty image icons for pick count that make no sense and the songlistbot.png is not showing (lot of issues not so simple)

if anyone figures out how to fix any of those via .dis please let me know the code addition and maybe i can make the fix global so that the .dis does not need it.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 08:59 AM

ah.. well ok! I'll try to edit my songlist for IE9 mode. I hope that will not be too hard for me.. But I'm always glad to test new features in EJ! Thanks a lot for the commands in the EJ SEARCH box. :)

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 09:04 AM

Have fun playing the .dis in IE9STANDARDS :D
remember it might not look the same in IE9 final's standards

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:12 AM

Do you know when the IE9 final version will be available?

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 09:19 AM

IE9 final in 2011
i will see if i can get the songlist working with beta standards but it is not going to be easy and will take time. an updated playlist could be released the soonest in a skin if i add the .dis option for ie9standards mode...because right now the playlist is the only thing that works 100% functionality wise. there are allot of new quirks to implement to get the other lists 100% in IE9STANDARDS

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:27 AM

All is almost perfect! :D I love the rounded borders. just the mouse over and right click are not working. I'll try to fix that in the .dis files!

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 09:36 AM

awesome! but you can't fix those from .dis - trust me - the songlist is going to take time and a few exe's for me to get totally up and running in IE9STANDARDS
if you can see if you can figure out how show the arrow or hand cursor in .title
is there a different standard than cursor: ?

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:58 AM

ok too bad it can't be fixed from .dis. I'd need the .html! Maybe Microsoft will provide a code translator for web developers?

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 10:00 AM

yes there is...it is F12 in IE9 beta - that will help me get it working...but still i worry maybe some things are actually broken in the beta like the 'now playing' height not chaning the cover size and the scroll sliders on the lists not working.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 10:00 AM

maybe could you use .SVG images for the cover in the 'now playing'? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/ff468705.aspx#_Scaling_Vector_Graphics

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 10:23 AM

or maybe you can use 'background-size': http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/#background-size

Here is a syntax I found for the cursor which is working good in EJukebox with IE9 STANDARDS:
cursor: url(), hand;

Easy! ;)

[EDIT]
I also fixed the Homeview.ini:

table {
background-color: transparent;
background-image: url(HomeviewTable.png);
background-repeat: repeat;
text-align: left;
cursor: url(), hand;

}

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 07:27 PM

IE9 will be good for EJukebox!

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 07:34 PM

very nice thanks Pirk!
interesting it needs url() in cursor...maybe ie9 supports custom cursor files in the skin folder?

also test out...
opacity: 0.5;
i tried one of the rows in the playlist and it alternates the text 50% faded and the next row solid text. i am unsure...maybe filter: alpha doesn't always work in IE9. actually i think if opacity exists in the { } then filter: alpha is ignored in the same { }. the opposite is true in IE6-8 as opacity is not supported only filter: alpha. so i guess use both if you are doing a simple filter: alpha(Opacity=) and it will work on all IE versions

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 07:53 PM

of course i tried to load a few icons in the cursor url() but no success yet! but the hand is loaded instead.

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 07:54 PM

hmmm maybe it only supports a new cursor file extension

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 08:08 PM

well i think not but i don't know

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 08:14 PM

IE supports CUR and ANI as formats.
cursor: url(foo.cur), auto;

when url not found it uses...
auto
pointer
hand

did you try copying a .cur file to the skins images folder?

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 08:29 PM

opacity: 0.5; works good. Thanks.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 08:37 PM

did you try copying a .cur file to the skins images folder?
well i just tried with a windows .cur and also .ani, but still no success for me.

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 08:40 PM

i think maybe IE9 wants
cursor: pointer;
instead of cursor: hand;

your solution for the homeview worked but the cursor stays the hand the entire time over the list instead of when over something clickable.

can you test if cursor: pointer; works and shows the hand?
if it does i think i can fix it to run the correct cursors in ie9 without .dis changes.

actually instead try this exe and see if the cursors now show the hand in IE9STANDARDS on existing skins

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 08:52 PM

yes cursor: pointer; works good!

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 08:58 PM

but does that exe fix it so the hand shows up for existing skins instead of how it was showing the text selection cursor?

btw that exe includes the text-align: left; fix for the homeview so existing skins use that by deault instead of needing it in the .dis.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:02 PM

but does that exe fix it so the hand shows up for existing skins instead of how it was showing the text selection cursor?
well it seems your exe is not better for me. no hand in IE9STANDARDS.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:09 PM

thanks for the fixed homeview, it works perfectly.

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 09:12 PM

Not sure how accurate this still is
http://www.quirksmode.org/blog/archives/2010/06/ies_big_leap_fo.html

does gradient filter not work?

I think the only way to fix old skin cursors is for EJ to find and replace all the cursor: hand; 's that exist in the .dis files and replace with cursor: pointer;
Not a bad idea since google says IE6 supports cursor: pointer...hopefully showing the hand so that can be the same in all skins.

Pirk - 9-23-2010 at 09:31 PM

interesting your link about ie9 qualities

no more gradient in ie9? it seems!

cursor: pointer will be perfect for me.. i can edit my skins!

Audiosoft - 9-23-2010 at 10:19 PM

This exe makes the cursors work good on all IE versions
the cursor: hand's in the skin's images/skinname/ .dis files are now automatically replaced with cursor: pointer; when you startup or switch to the skin.

... and the scroll sliders, the 'now playing' height and the songlist is now functional in IE9STANDARDS :o

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 11:40 AM

it works good. so now .titlehi is functional. it would just miss .titleedithi which still crash EJ when IE9STANDARDS is used. Thanks, great work!

..and the now playing image can also be resized!! Perfect.

Audiosoft - 9-24-2010 at 11:54 AM

noticed that right click crash was trying to figure that out.
spent all nite getting the songlist elements working...and i think the tiled images are still not showing up. very frustrating.
also i forget does right click work on the play icon for previewing?
ugh i need a nap. ;)
more later today...btw how do i make that cool radius in vinyl like in your screen? haven't tried yet would like to play with radius when i wake up :)

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 12:04 PM

yes the preview works good!
there is just the preview box which is not ideally placed and sized on win7. but it's not related to IE9STANDARDS.

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 12:20 PM

You are the best Audiosoft!! you are always able to fix every things very quickly, during the night... :o

i also need a good nap! i come back from work after 8 hours of work since 4 AM!!

so you want a IE9STANDARDS skin? i'm working on more than the songlist! so you will have soon a New Player in EJ! You deserve it. the playlist is the only page i not re-edited yet from your A5 Vinyl..

Good nap! ;)

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 03:40 PM

that's very easy:

.title
{
text-decoration:none;
height:17px;

font-size:13px;
font-family:beachextended, calibri, Arial, Helvetica, san-serif;
letter-spacing:0px;
font-weight: 500;
line-height:17px;
text-align:left;
cursor: pointer;

background:transparent;
background-position:0% 0%;
background-repeat:repeat;
background-image:url(alu.png);
color:#4b4b4b;
border-color:#fcfcfc;
border-style:solid;
border-width:1px;

border-radius: 16px;

margin:2px 0;
padding:4px 0;
padding-left:7px;
}

i also added in table{} 'border-spacing: 1px 3px;'

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 06:17 PM

you can also make something a bit more "elaborated":

border-top-left-radius: 14px 8px;
border-bottom-left-radius: 8px 14px;
border-top-right-radius: 8px 14px;
border-bottom-right-radius: 14px 8px;

zoom: 102%;

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 06:59 PM

.. :o

Pirk - 9-24-2010 at 07:27 PM

.

Audiosoft - 9-25-2010 at 12:35 AM

That is awesome Pirk! :D

this exe can now detect IE9 and
the 'now playing' out animation now works with IE9beta installed

also fixed the songlist right-click crash and songlist titleedithi now working in 9standards

Pirk - 9-25-2010 at 09:53 AM

Thanks for your work Audiosoft! titleedithi now works good: :)

Pirk - 9-25-2010 at 12:52 PM

IE9STANDARDS! :D

Audiosoft - 9-26-2010 at 01:48 AM

great! and radius on NetRelated thumbnails also works :o

Audiosoft - 9-26-2010 at 02:09 AM

and for the songlist.dis album images

#albumimg{
border-color:#CCCCCC;
border-style:solid;
border-width:4px;
border-radius: 22px;}

Audiosoft - 9-26-2010 at 03:12 AM

.albumimage {
border-color:transparent;
border-style:solid;
border-width:6px;
border-radius:22px;}

Audiosoft - 9-26-2010 at 06:15 AM

playlist.dis

Pirk - 9-26-2010 at 09:00 AM

wow you put it everywhere! :D radius is very efficient! :o

Pirk - 9-26-2010 at 01:47 PM

tired of squares.. :P

Audiosoft - 9-28-2010 at 09:59 AM

very nice Pirk.
i am getting tired of typing IE9STANDARDS...
I will add a colors.ini option to enable IE9 standards mode rendering soon.

Pirk - 9-28-2010 at 07:53 PM

good idea Audiosoft! thanks.

Audiosoft - 9-29-2010 at 08:40 AM

also background color can have alpha transparency in IE9!
background-color: hsla(0, 100%, 50%, 0.5);

http://petelepage.com/blog/2010/07/how-to-hsl-and-hsla-color-models/

Pirk - 9-29-2010 at 09:25 AM

great, very handy! well once you master the 'hue' propertie, photoshop will be less essential.

maybe you could update the eJukebox Color Picker?

and also you could fix the Hex values xA which are always turned to 00. 7 or 8 Years before i decide to finally report this bug!! ;)

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 9-29-2010 at 09:25 PM

OK you can now add this to colors.ini
[IEStandardsMode]
Version=9

This setting allows the skin to render in IE9 standards mode and works to set IE 10 11 12 etc standards modes when they come out.
The value must be 9 or greater and IE9 or greater must be installed or it will use quirks mode.
if you specify Version=10 and only 9 is installed then it will use the standards mode of the version installed...IE9. if the setting is Version=9 when 10 is installed...9 standards will be used.

This exe makes the render mode switch when you load or change the skin based on the new or missing colors.ini setting. the installed IE version and current render mode are listed on the home view temporarily for testing.

Pirk - 9-30-2010 at 09:05 AM

It works good Audiosoft. Thanks.

Pirk - 10-1-2010 at 07:48 PM

OK I integrated a new Color Picker in eJukebox!
I think "ColorPic" replaces the previous tool advantageously. It has the hue saturation properties, and no bug.. :cool:

Audiosoft - 10-2-2010 at 08:06 AM

new color picker with HSV support attached...
-all format values change to match when you edit one of the boxes
-includes a common slider that works to gradually adjust the rgb or hsv box that you clicked to focus

test it out and let me know if you notice any problems
will make this the color picker in v3.34

-updated fixed using slider on HSV was not always incrementing
-updated added mouse scroll wheel support

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 10:45 AM

hey good work. it just miss a magnifier! maybe you could make so that the slider also works using the mouse wheel?
any bug? i just noticed that if you set all to zero then the slider doesn't work for hsv. thanks.

Audiosoft - 10-2-2010 at 10:47 AM

just updated the color picker exe should fix the slider with HSV
also added scroll wheel support

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 11:50 AM

thanks for the quick update! well they are still some problems with hue and saturation values: often they can't be changed using the slider arrows (one by one). the scroll wheel doesn't work for me.

Audiosoft - 10-2-2010 at 03:53 PM

updated exe
mouse scroll wheel should make the selection move +-5
HSV should always increment +-1 now with the <slider> arrow buttons

added hsl conversion for IE9

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 04:52 PM

ahh this one seems to work better! the scroll wheel now works good. all is very pinpoint, we should be able to find new colors for our skins! thanks for the ie9 hsl converter. i'm not familiar yet with these new notations but if it works.

Audiosoft - 10-2-2010 at 06:45 PM

your welcome!
just now updated the exe again so it actually works as HSL before it only worked as HSV
Click the V: and L: to switch between HSL and HSV
Click the big Color box at the bottom to show the IE9 HSL code

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 06:51 PM

Audiosoft, i think you have made a mistake in the new color picker: Hue should be from 0 to 360°, not 0 to 255! Hue defines the color according to a position or degree on the color wheel. :o

Audiosoft - 10-2-2010 at 07:03 PM

Pirk the Hue is 360 for hsL and 255 for hsV
it should work click the L: and V: to toggle
when you open colorpicker it does L: ~360 for Hue and percentage for Saturation and Lightness

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 07:06 PM

ok i just discovered hsL and hsV in your new exe. thanks!

Pirk - 10-2-2010 at 07:15 PM

there is just a strange thing i noticed: when i switch between L and V sometimes the Hex and Decimal values are changed!? weird..

PS: tomorrow i'll try to "improve" the playlist, then a innovating skin should start to conquer the world! :D well for those who will install IE9.. Microsoft should send me some cash!!

Audiosoft - 10-3-2010 at 12:30 AM

-now shows a preview gradient above the scrollbar for the active entry box
-now supports alpha transparency
-Color Picker now ontop and has a minimize button
-now toggles viewing css items when you click the color box
~need to figure out how to organize and group the css color items so can user can copy and paste a color group which works on IE9+ with benefits and still gets the right color and opacity on preIE9 when possible.

Pirk - 10-3-2010 at 09:13 AM

wow a lot of improvements! you added transparency, then maybe you could add a preview for color transparency. i mean like in photoshop using a checkerboard as background. :)

Q: how can i remove a color in the custom palette?

Audiosoft - 10-3-2010 at 09:56 AM

well you can't delete one yet
but when you close and reopen the color picker the custom palette starts up empty

Pirk - 10-3-2010 at 10:00 AM

when you close and reopen the color picker the custom palette starts empty: ah well ok.. i suppose you will add a "battery" to the final version!

Audiosoft - 10-3-2010 at 10:05 AM

Pirk when on the custom palette you can right-click a spot to change it to the current color

or left-click to set the active spot under the custom palette then change the color by clicking Add
also to black out spots you can change the color to black and then right click the spots

this exe fixes the top hue picker was not working when black or white was the current color
adds a non-changing text area below the right side css so can use it as a notepad

now automatically saves and reloads the custom palette to colorpicker.ini

includes new buttons to Clear, Load and Save the custom palette to a Name. also can now view Custom and saved Names under Palettes tab at the top

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 12:26 PM

also to black out spots you can change the color to black and then right click the spots: i think using the "Del" keyboard key to delete any selected spot would be more easy...

Audiosoft - 10-4-2010 at 12:46 PM

in the custom palette grid it is easier for me to left click a black square and right click the spots i want cleared but...
the delete key makes sense so it also now works!

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 01:16 PM

your method is very clever once you know it, but i think standard commands are always welcome for ordinary people. Thank you for added the del key. it works good! :)

Audiosoft - 10-4-2010 at 01:23 PM

all is good! much more fun incrementing H.S.L.
R.G.B. seems not as useful ;)

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 01:37 PM

you know what? sure the new color picker is "much more better" for the future with ie9, but i miss the old palettes! maybe could you also add in the new palette menu the color palettes that was in ColorPicker 1 (using the same sort order..)

PS: Here is the new playlist i just made for ie9, using the new color picker. all that is very promising!

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 03:39 PM

Audiosoft, sorry if i'm deadly: you'll agree or not but i think the new slots are too small to distinguish the different colors in a real palette with very Close Color gradients. maybe you could make the new slots at least so large than before, or more large if possible! (cf ColorPic in my first post/screenshot about that)
and also, still for the same reason, if you could "frame" the selected slot in the Main palettes like before.

Thanks.

PS: the Negative Color small box was also handy in the previous picker.

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 05:03 PM

larger is better! :P

Audiosoft - 10-4-2010 at 05:11 PM

ok i added the selected outline and made the old picker's palette the default
also increased the cell size as much as i could for now

-updated to make the lines between the colors less noticable

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 05:58 PM

ah thanks! it's already better. maybe could you allow users to resize the picker window? that will be useful for the text panel too.

updated: maybe full black separators and empty slots in white was not so bad finally. ;)

or else, just a window more large for larger slots, keeping the same layout and colors than before my complaint..

Audiosoft - 10-4-2010 at 06:19 PM

here it is with solid black let me know which you like better

Pirk - 10-4-2010 at 06:47 PM

even if the general aspect is perfectible, the last one in solid black is the more readable for color palette gradients.
in fact your original colors for colorpicker2 was great, just the slots which was too small. so i think a "zoom" on the palettes using a enlarged window would be sufficient.

Audiosoft - 10-5-2010 at 05:27 AM

like this better? made it wider so the palette squares are bigger than the old picker.

Pirk - 10-5-2010 at 10:40 AM

i think this one is usable: 15/20! Thanks.

Pirk - 10-5-2010 at 11:26 AM

Audiosoft, i tried it with a Black Grid: it's way better! because the colors shades are more readable. :o
for the grid, maybe 1 pixel would be sufficient instead of 2.

Audiosoft - 10-5-2010 at 02:08 PM

funny :D i realized the 1px border around cells was creating a 2px border in between cells...so i fixed it. then i came to post it and you suggested it :o

this makes the cells 1x1px larger. the top palette cells are now 20px by 20px and the lower custom palette is 19px x 19px.

Pirk - 10-5-2010 at 03:47 PM

Thanks for this update with only 1 pixel between each slot!
so no Black grid? i say that because i really noticed that any color other than black for the grid contaminates the color slots, making them less pure. if the grid is black the empty slots can be in white.. maybe i nitpick but it's for a good cause! :D

Audiosoft - 10-6-2010 at 02:01 AM

you will need to clear any saved custom palette or it will show the old black

now when you double click a cell in the custom palette or the big palette it will switch to the color info tab

also you can click an empty white spot in the custom palette to select the cell and it will not switch the color to white unless you click the spot again when its already selected

other tweaks ;)

Pirk - 10-6-2010 at 11:56 AM

I still think the color picker would be more functional with a grid in Black:

Pirk - 10-6-2010 at 11:57 AM

Thanks for the update.

you could also add the small slots for Negative color, like in colorpicker1..

Audiosoft - 10-6-2010 at 12:57 PM

Quote:

Black grid please! I still think the color picker would be more functional with a grid in Black:

Pirk i am confused - the grid is black. empty slots are white. what do you want black?

Click the > for the right side there are new options for the grid style
and Click the new Zoom button ! :o

Pirk - 10-6-2010 at 03:27 PM

Wow thanks for the new grid options! :o

However for me the Grid is still Grey not Black! :D
The 2 screenshots i posted above was edited in photoshop to show you how the grid is better in black...

so now it just miss you add a option to choose the grid solid color. ;)

Pirk - 10-6-2010 at 03:50 PM

Audiosoft, your zoom is very powerful but you forget a 1 pixel Target in the zoom grid! so until now it is not very functional. I would prefer to make "surgical strikes"... well ok the target show up once clicked on the grid. no center but it works..

PS: in this screenshot ogling competition, you can note a color option for the grid! and also other interesting options.. :o
PS2: i think your mouse target is not ideal, i would prefer a little more simple target. i don't know if i not prefer the target of colorpicker 1 for its simplicity?

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 10-7-2010 at 12:40 AM

this fixes the zoom and makes the grid black not just on XP
plus includes a new button to set the grid color :D

Pirk - 10-7-2010 at 12:01 PM

ok thanks a lot Audiosoft. now we can set a color for the grid very easily. great!
if i continue my hypercritic.. i would say the black grid (or any other color) have a unsightly top and left borders, too wide. i think borders of 1 pixel would be sufficient!

Audiosoft - 10-7-2010 at 01:16 PM

...
top and left edges fixed

Pirk - 10-7-2010 at 03:46 PM

Thanks!

hypercritic.. you fixed the top and left borders, but now the bottom and right have clipped slots: 2 pixels to remove on each border!

PS: a small bug, in the css panel, you write color: hsla(15,100%,0%,0,25) this is not correct. the correct syntax is color: hsla(15,100%,0%,0.25)
and when you are at it, it should be the same problem with the rgba opacity.
PS2: if you could add the IExplorer 4+ palette in the same order than in colorpicker 1.

Thanks again.

Pirk - 10-7-2010 at 06:29 PM

Audiosoft, could you add again the RGB sliders? sometimes they are useful to finely adjust a color.

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 10-8-2010 at 12:27 AM

Pirk it already has rgb sliders when you click in the rgb box and then use the slider or mouse wheel

this fixes the right bottom edges and should fix the rgba hsla css for you. it was showing the decimal for me not the comma....must have been because of your localization setting.

also fixes the hsl boxes so they don't lose their hue and saturation when you use the lightness slider and hit black and white

RE PS2: if you could add the IExplorer 4+ palette in the same order than in colorpicker 1.

It is now the 2nd item on the Palette menu. that IE4+ order maps to an alphabetical list ie sienna, silver, skyblue, slateblue, slategray, snow.
maybe that would be better in a drop down box that sets the color based on the color name selected instead of just a palette.
see the start up color with this exe ;)

updated fonts...

Pirk - 10-8-2010 at 10:29 AM

Good idea Audiosoft, i'll make another crimson skin! :D Thank you for the IE4+ palette and menu.

ok now we have a single slider.. but i think it is less intuitive than before with separate sliders. well it's a new approach, with the instant gradient maybe it's not so bad in fact!

Request: could you deactivate the selected slot when the palette is changed?

Idea: maybe could you allow us to freely resize the colorpicker window?

hypercritic: maybe you could write the text using the negative color? or just black on white..

Audiosoft - 10-8-2010 at 11:46 PM

-Color Name select box now has a white background
-Fixed the #hex value was incorrect when alpha was set to 1-9 %
-Added Alpha transparency preview
-New live CSS Test Bed

--updated so background-image:url(songlistbg.png);
in the test bed works for your currently selected EJ skin folder when you run ColorPicker2.exe from your ejukebox.exe folder. otherwise images must be in the same folder as colorpicker2.exe

Pirk - 10-9-2010 at 10:25 AM

Wow great! you added the checkerboard for Alpha transparency! and a test box. Can I edit my .dis files in this box? :)

Thanks!

Audiosoft - 10-9-2010 at 10:42 AM

check above for new exe
now you can test with the skin's images code in the test bed
i think it is really just to play with fonts and testing filter and color codes. other than that not sure how useful the test bed really is.
in my estimation notepad is still best for editing .dis since you can copy and paste, re-size and have multiple open.

Pirk - 10-9-2010 at 12:08 PM

ok, i was already dreaming of a skin editor... ;)
thanks for the new exe. it works good with a image!

crlove - 10-9-2010 at 02:52 PM

It would be a nice feature making it easier for a user to customize their eJukebox look and feel. They wouldn't be required to understand the underlying structure in eJukebox to create a new skin..

Do any other Jukebox programs offer this ability?

Pirk - 10-9-2010 at 07:24 PM

yep! but there are so much things to skin in ejukebox, so much possibilities... maybe a editor would be more restrictive than notepad? Anyway IE9 standards are welcome in EJ. I was dreaming of all these new features since i started to make skins: :)

Pirk - 10-9-2010 at 07:59 PM

I'm concocting something! thanks to IE9 standards... :D and the new colorpicker! ;)

Audiosoft - 10-10-2010 at 01:01 AM

:o beautiful design Pirk!

v5.34 is up with ColorPicker on the tools menu and IE9 Standards support via colors.ini

[IEStandardsMode]
Version=9

maybe Microsoft will give us text-shadow for Christmas :D
if not - IE9 still offers great improvements!

Pirk - 10-10-2010 at 09:44 PM

and yet you have not seen it all! :D i think the more "incredible" should be the new design i'm making for the player and the playlist.

Pirk - 10-11-2010 at 09:55 PM

tonight i just found a new background (guitar) for my songlist. it works great with my latest songlist skinning: :)

Pirk - 10-11-2010 at 10:04 PM

this guitar sounds good in my skin! :D

Audiosoft - 10-11-2010 at 10:27 PM

Great! i really like your border radius shape and the coloring!
btw guess what? i just figured out how to trick IE6 to show pngs in the lists with transparency! A few years late i know...but there are still some people installing EJ with IE6 installed to this day. With v5.35 they will be able to see the IE7 skins. There is only a slight delay after the list loads before the png images turn transparent. I tested the IE6 fix on virtual XP mode which comes with IE6 on Win7...the delay is probally less noticable on real XP but I am not downgrading from IE8 to find out.

Pirk - 10-12-2010 at 09:20 AM

wow png transparency in IE6?! pity that wasn't found sooner indeed. but can still be useful nowadays for recycled PCs used for eJukebox on XP 1..
glad you like the coloring of my skin. it seems the guitar gradient is looking good with any album cover for the background. it's really a good thing.
the only little problem is with the frame i used for the album thumbnail: normally it's a transparent png, but it seems the transparency doesn't work. i noticed the transparency only works for HotLists (cf screenshot). i don't know why?

brice - 10-12-2010 at 06:19 PM

Bjr Pirk

Est ce ton futur skin ?

Il me plait beaucoup sinon une ptite proposition , si tu mettais le contour en rouge comme sur celui du " crimson " ca pourait l' accentuer encore plus non ?

Pirk - 10-12-2010 at 07:30 PM

Audiosoft - 10-12-2010 at 10:09 PM

Quote:

Pirk,

did you first try adding? background: transparent;

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 09:05 AM

Audiosoft, yes i tried background: transparent; in #albumimg {} but it seems the transparency does not work. transparency only works in Hotlists. it's like if in Hotlists a non-transparent layer (black) behind the album thumbnail was removed.

EDIT: in #albumimg, not #bg

Audiosoft - 10-13-2010 at 09:12 AM

ah i think it maybe the the shadow filter running on albumimg

try adding filter: ;
to the bottom of albumimg

probably will not work the shadow is applied after the .dis is used
i guess i can remove the shadow when its IE9 Standards. you could add it back with filter: Shadow(Direction=130);

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 09:20 AM

yes exactly: how to remove this filter? filter: none; does not work.

Audiosoft - 10-13-2010 at 09:21 AM

here is a new exe that doesn't apply the shadow when ie9 standards mode - it is the only way.

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 09:22 AM

i guess i can remove the shadow when its IE9 Standards.

i'm not against!

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 09:23 AM

Audiosoft, you have 8 hours! i must go to work now... Thanks!

Audiosoft - 10-13-2010 at 09:28 AM

ok go make some money
the exe is up 3 posts

brice - 10-13-2010 at 10:53 AM

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 07:37 PM

Audiosoft, your exe works perfectly! now i've added a shadow around the box (box-shadow). thanks again.

Pirk - 10-13-2010 at 07:42 PM

Brice, ah ok ça doit être possible de repeindre le tour du A5 Vinyl en rouge, je verrai..

brice - 10-14-2010 at 09:10 AM

Pour moi le contour en rouge serait tres bien si c'etait faisable
j attends avec impatience ton skin.
Au faite exellent l image de ta guitare , j adore !!
