Bitsumo [Red] Skin
slick - 6-29-2004 at 11:51 AM

Here is my new skin.

I would appreciate any comments please and I will update it.

It is my first and I have spent a lot of time on it. I have tried to keep the file sizes small for those on 56k.

Screen shot on next post.

Great work! Like the 80/90's metropolitan futuristic feel of lit... like a device from the film "Akira". Especially like the small details such as the volume bar, and the red tint when you move your mouse over the now playing album. :)

Fishy - 6-29-2004 at 04:31 PM

This is a great skin :D And I am glad that it don't include the nasty bug which arctic shows these days. I'll go over to using this skin now. Keep up the good work, this is skillful stuff :)

Pirk - 6-29-2004 at 04:35 PM

Mmm... I already love your skin Slick! It looks very professional... "Koremultimedia is a new media company, specialising in webpage design..." Ah OK... it's your job!! :cool: ;)
Thanks for your great work, and -of course- also for the very "pleasant" No cover image! :o :D:D:D

Fishy - 6-29-2004 at 05:23 PM

Slick did you use the dis files from Arctic skin as starting point when you made this skin? If so this tells us that the bugs of arctic probably could be islolated down to the images used in the now playing, artistlist and songlist as audiosoft suggested..

Junk have you tried to do as Audiosoft suggested in the "some weird issues" thread? Wonder if that can remove the current issues with the arctic skin..

slick - 6-29-2004 at 05:43 PM

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, fishy, I started using your Arctic skin as a starting point. What bugs are you refering to? I know the files quite well by now and might be able to fix it...

Kore Multimedia is my business Pirk, I've just started it up. Just trying to get a name for myself. Plus, I'm new to eJukebox so I can design while I try to rip my 400 or so CDs. Glad you like the cheeky picture. Just a little present for you all. (I didn't draw it!).

Once I am fully happy with the skin I'll produce a couple of variations.

Fishy - 6-29-2004 at 06:05 PM

Slick: Have a look at: This thread

There is a screenshot there as well, which illustrates the "bugging" in action...

Pirk - 6-29-2004 at 06:51 PM

Slick, i wish you a lot of success in your new business! And, thanks again for your contribution to eJukebox...

Long live Kore Multimedia!
Long live Audiosoft! :)

Long live EJUKEBOX!!

Fishy, i couldn't avoid commenting on your "I'll go over to using this skin now" statement. Are you abandoning the fruits of our labour? All the strenous night we have spent together to conceive our child, the and you simply toss it away like yesterday's paper as soon as something new comes along? :P Bah, only kidding. I am also using his skin now, but i didn't experience any bugs with the Artic skin when "link songlist to currently playing song" was turned off. But this, like you say, is another discussion, in another thread.

Fishy - 6-29-2004 at 07:25 PM

hehe well.. I can't use a skin that begins to bug when I have a lot of stuff loaded, which I usally have.. So for stability I have to use this skin.. Which is no bad replacement anyhow :)

I also thought that it was related to that option.. but try to load 4,5 versions of my albumlist at my webpage in your browser and fool a little around in ej while having arctic skin enabled. See if it still works so well, I doubt it..

EDIT: hmm well.. what I said above is not true. All I have to do is to scroll the artistlist up and down for a while and it happens. Only with the arctic skin though..
Which excludes the possibility that this is related to problems with my hardware and/or OS, which I was afraid was the reason in the first place.

By the way I tried to save the suggested images as small, low quality jpg's but with no effect. Possible maybe I'll try to uninstall ej and reinstall it. Will I need a new key then?

Anyhow I will stop bugging the forum with this.. I'll try to find a sollution and post it if I do...

Fishy - 6-29-2004 at 09:49 PM

Junk while struggeling with the arctic bugging I accidently found out how to use your nice playicon in the albumlist as well :D

Simply delete all the *files* located under /images/ (not the dirs!) and copy all of arctics files over to /images. Then it should work fine.. Looks very neat :) This procedure replaces the default skin. Probably it's sufficent to copy just the playicon, but I copied all files because my intention in the first place was to test something else, and this appeared as an unexpected bonus :)

ps: Grab the colors.ini in the weird issues thread and get it into the skin archive as soon as you can..

Audiosoft - 6-30-2004 at 04:43 AM

RE: Simply delete all the *files* located under /images/ (not the dirs!) and copy all of arctics files over to /images. Then it should work fine.. Looks very neat This procedure replaces the default skin.

Just a warning on this one...if you replace the default skin under /images - eJukebox will replace it with the real default skin everytime you install an eJukebox upgrade.

Fishy - 6-30-2004 at 10:15 PM

Sorry that I am discussing another skin in this thread, which should contain comments on the Bitsumo Red skin.. But it might be relevant for that skin as well, if Slick would like to use a custom playicon in a future version of Bitsumo..

The reason that I suggested the procedure above is because the playicon of the albumlist (albummenubutton.gif and albummenubuttonon.gif) in arctic will only get used when you're mousing over the playicon in the albumlist. One has to, for some reason add it to the root dir /images as well if one wants it to display the correct images when not mousing over them.. Is there a way to fix this?

Audiosoft - 6-30-2004 at 10:55 PM

ah...we have fixed it so the skin's albummenubutton.gif image gets used in the album list properly in v3.88.

Fishy - 6-30-2004 at 11:13 PM

Great! Thanks :)

jhlurie - 7-1-2004 at 04:07 AM

Very mischievous graphic for the unfound albums on this skin. :D

slick - 7-1-2004 at 11:34 AM

Yes, I did wonder about the albummenubutton. I'll await 3.88, because I don't browse that way.

Will I need to renew the skin when another version is released? How does that work?

Glad you liked the graphic, Jhlurie. A bit naughty, but the colours go soooooo well, don't they?

Audiosoft - 7-1-2004 at 12:51 PM

Under v3.86 and later if you wish to install an updated skinname.zip all you need to do is replace the old skinname.zip in the Skins folder. Then click the skin name on the Tools skin/style menu.

slick - 7-1-2004 at 12:54 PM

Can anyone help me with the .artistlist?

I would like to move the "view all songs" closer to the main letter, or change it to read "view all" or "view songs". The reason for this is shown in the image below.

There appears to be be a resizing effect that shows this text as a proportion of the letter. How can I effect this?

Fishy - 7-2-2004 at 05:46 PM

Slick. Maybe you could use some fonts in your skins which got better international support? When I use your skin I get weird characters instead of the norwegian characters ae, oe and aa... Most popular fonts support these though.. Just a thought..

Audiosoft - 7-4-2004 at 09:09 PM

Slick,

Under v3.88, you can add ".viewall" to the artistlist.dis file to specify the text details for the "View All Songs" text in the artist list.

For example:

.viewall {

color: #FFFFFF;
FONT-SIZE: 14px;
FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, san-serif;
letter-spacing:-1px;
font-weight:bold;
line-height: 30px;

}

slick - 7-5-2004 at 07:14 PM

Hi Fishy. Sorry the font doesn't support your characters. I noticed this myself for my björk collection, but it was a bit late in the day. The bitsumishi font doesn't support much in the way of special characters: I had trouble finding a font that looked clean enough to use. I promise to make amends on my next skin and I'll be sure to check it thoroughly!

To add insult to injury, I've been to Iceland, Sweden, Finland & Denmark, but I've never been to Norway!

I will produce bitsumo in a few different colours, with the "view all" fix in it once 3.88 version is out. Any preference for colours, anyone?

Fishy - 7-7-2004 at 03:48 PM

hehe.. Np! :)

Heading a little off topic but have to say that Denmark is very nice and flat :D .. Quite the opposite of norway, which is dominated by mountains.. I like Copenhagen a lot, very nice city..

Ever been to the Roskilde festival in Dk? :)

slick - 7-7-2004 at 03:54 PM

Nope. Dynamo in the Netherlands though. A few times. IT ROCKS!

Fishy - 7-7-2004 at 04:20 PM

Nice :) No major festivals on me this summer.. Only a small local one, where Aphex Twin, one of the kings of electronica will play :D Looking forward to that one...

Is your skin updated by the way?

slick - 7-7-2004 at 06:08 PM

Just need answer to the question already posted:

What is the divider graphic called?
I can't find it.

Fishy - 7-7-2004 at 06:24 PM

In arctic it is "/images/blue.jpg".. Can't remember what it was named by default... hmm..

Audiosoft - 7-7-2004 at 06:33 PM

It is located under .albumrule{ } in the songlist.dis file.

Spazz - 7-8-2004 at 08:04 PM

I'm not sure if it's just a setting on my computer but it would be nice if it autohighlighted the playing song when the songlist is linked to the albumlist. The other skins do it and that's pretty much all that's stopping me from setting Bitsumo to default.

slick - 7-8-2004 at 08:24 PM

Thanks for that Spazz. Will sort it out.

New skin very very soon!
