No songs in top 10 [UPDATE: Fixed v3.6]
John - 10-31-2003 at 04:52 AM

My top 10 list doesn't list any songs. Can you please explain how to use the rating system correctly? Thanks.

Audiosoft - 10-31-2003 at 07:38 AM

The Top10 Songs are based on the number of times the song has been picked, since the first time you installed eJukebox. Pick meaning: clicking the "play now icon" next to the song title in the songlist or adding it to the playlist and having it play.

Each time you pick a song its pick count is increased. Songs with the most picks show up in the Top10.
So you should see a song in the Top10 as soon as you pick your first song. Then the Top10 will fill in as you continue to pick new songs.

Currently star ratings do not effect the Top10 page, only pick counts do. In a future version, eJukebox may also incorporate the song's star rating into the TOP10's calculation.

Well, I tried picking some songs and let them play all the way through, But I still get nothing in the top 10 list. I have the full "bought and paid for" version 3.53. I played around with the pick count sliders, but no matter where I slide them they still read "Play songs picked at least 0 times." I've attached a picture to illustrate. Thanks for your time.

Audiosoft - 11-4-2003 at 07:34 AM

Hmm.... How many songs do you have in your eJukebox database? You can find this number on the HOME TOP10 list.

John - 11-5-2003 at 03:08 AM

Right now I just have one album on the ejukebox, just to test the top 10 thing. I'm fixing the tags on all my other stuff so I haven't loaded them up yet.

Audiosoft - 11-5-2003 at 04:43 AM

Things will work perfect once you add more songs.

John - 11-7-2003 at 05:04 AM

Sorry, but that didn't do it...

Fishy - 11-7-2003 at 12:34 PM

You have tried to reset the popularity count to check if that has any effect of course?

John - 11-8-2003 at 06:27 AM

Yes, I have...

Brandir - 11-8-2003 at 02:05 PM

Have you set the
"Only show entries whenn the Song or a song from the Artist/Album has been played in the last:"
-Option to "Disabled" ?

For some reason this is the only way I get the TopTen to work. I have nearly 4K Songs an a DB more than four Month s old, but neither "24-Hours", "week" nor "month" will list any songs. Sadly this was always the case an a number of other users have the same problem.

Try to set it to "disabled". Maybe that will help.

John - 11-10-2003 at 05:13 AM

Well, I set it to "disabled" and all I got was an alphabetical list of all of the artists in the "top artists" column. And even then, I had to hit that little arrow just to see that. Alas, still nothing in the top ten songs. I'm dismayed to here that other people have had similar problems and nothing has been done to fix them. The powers that be realy need to address this stuff, because after all, this ain't freeware. Thank you for your insight. I'm waiting to hear from the "Super Administrator" for some in depth answers. GRRRR- Very frustrating!

Spazz - 11-10-2003 at 07:18 PM

I dunno what the problem is with your guy's Jukeboxes but mine works just fine. Mine works no matter where I have the "Only show songs played in the last X" option.

Fishy - 11-10-2003 at 11:22 PM

I'm having the same problems as John, actually. Top ten album and songlist only works with "Only show entries (...)" disabled. Don't know if this it's due to some bogus in the code, or my setup somehow. Maybe this should be looked into?

Audiosoft - 11-10-2003 at 11:49 PM

Must be something with the date/time format not being the same for non english version of Windows.

Fishy - 11-11-2003 at 04:35 AM

That might be correct. I am using a norwegian version of windows xp sp1.

Pirk - 11-11-2003 at 11:19 AM

Yes Audiosoft, you are right! I use Windows XP French version and the Home page statistics don't work accurately for me.
If i change the time/date format using regional options in the control panel then that works perfectly for eJukebox, but that's no good for all other program...

So, if you could take care of the Windows time/date formats in a future version of eJukebox, that would be great!

Thanks.

Brandir - 11-11-2003 at 06:19 PM

Yepp, the same with me.
I'm using german language-settings. If I change to (US) english, then everything works fine.

But like Pirk, I would prefer to use my normal settings :)

Beam - 11-11-2003 at 06:45 PM

Yep, same here. Had this problem ages!! Just changed from UK to US and Top 10 songs and Top5 Albums work again. Could this please be fixed, ta :)

ochristmas - 11-12-2003 at 10:50 AM

I was just thinking - I know that this problem seems to be solved but... what if all your mp3s were read-only (write protected) would ejukebox still work? I presume popularity counts wouldnt work - would just be a possible solution for the original problem in this thread no?

(wow i need to work on my grammar!)

Brandir - 11-12-2003 at 11:08 AM

No, none of my mp3's are write-protected.
That would give the auto-safe of my lyrix-plug-in some problems ;)

And as said above, with changing the windows-language, everything works fine.

lof3 - 11-12-2003 at 08:53 PM

Yes ochristmas, that is terrible.

Try Harder D-

Audiosoft - 11-12-2003 at 09:03 PM

Glad we figured out what was going wrong...Unfortunately we do not have access to any systems running non-english versions of windows....so in order to fix this we are going to need someone to send us their ejuke.asn for comparison.

We would appreciate it if someone running a non-english version of windows would send their ejuke.asn file to contact@audiosoft.net. Make sure to shutdown eJukebox before sending the file and post to let us know that your email is on the way. Thank you for your help.

Fishy - 11-12-2003 at 09:46 PM

Does someone have a ejuke.asn smaller than 240 mb? If not, I will send mine. I use a norwegian version of Winxp Sp1

Brandir - 11-12-2003 at 10:24 PM

hmm, mine is 38 MB

But that ist still a bit to big for an email attachment :)
Do you have a ftp-server to upload?

Pirk - 11-12-2003 at 10:40 PM

Audiosoft,

I've just send to you an email with a lighten version of my database. I hope that will be sufficient.

Have you received my email? :)

Audiosoft - 11-13-2003 at 02:33 AM

Pirk,
Thanks for the email with your small ejuke.asn file…

We have figured out the problem and it has been fixed for eJukebox v3.6. All users will now be able to use the "played in the last X" select box on the top 10 home view regardless of your regional settings.

The problem was related to Microsoft requiring the use of English-USA date formatting in queries on the database. So we have made sure that dates formatted for a different region get converted.

Pirk - 11-13-2003 at 09:28 AM

Ah OK...

I'm happy if my small file had help to solve the non-english date format issue!

Thanks. :)
