Shoutcast and out
bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 08:46 AM

Ok, installed the new version 3.83 this morning, and tried the new internet radio button (Shoutcast) which takes you to the website and tried a couple of radio stations. But then couldn't get ejukebox to play MP3 files again. It just wouldn't do anything. Forced a restart of the system, and now ejukebox won't start.

The splash screen comes up and the progress bar get to around 66% and then stops with ejukebox using 98% of CPU resource. Winamp 5 comes up with the radio station. I have to use task manager to end eJukebox.

Any ideas on how I recover form this.:o

Try playing a regular mp3 in Winamp5 and then starting eJukebox while Winamp5 is playing the song. That should fix it and eJukebox should startup.

When this happend did you hear anything on the radio stream or was the radio station down? Hitting the >> button in eJukebox should have fixed it.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 08:54 AM

Thanks that fixed it.

How are you supposed to go back to MP3 files normally, from within eJukebox.

:)

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 08:55 AM

Sorry missed you other question, both radio stations were up and running.

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 08:59 AM

You should be able to go back to playing mp3s by clicking the play icon for a song in the eJukebox songlist or clicking the >> button in eJukebox like normal. Try it again and see if it works.

If not what version of Winamp5 do you have and does this problem occur for you with every radio station or just a certain one?

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:04 AM

NO it doesn't work, The two tracks that I can access that one that was playing before the radio, and next up wont play using the play or next button, and I can't get ejukebox to respond to any other command, eg albums.

WinAmp 5.02

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:06 AM

Manually playing an MP3 in WInAmp seems the only way to unfreeze ejukebox, but it has just crashed as I type this reply.:o

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 09:10 AM

It will use some CPU while it is looking up an album cover for the radio song and may freeze for a second....but after the lookup is done it shouldn't use much CPU and should be responsive again. Does eJukebox continue to use allot of CPU while the radio station is playing?

Does the 0:01 playtime in eJukebox move forward?

Make sure that Shuffling and Repeat are OFF in Winamp5.

If that doesn't work...I would try upgrading to the latest version of Winamp5 or use Winamp2.91. I have v5.03 here and you can go back and forth between mp3s and radio in eJukebox without a problem.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:20 AM

Windows XP Professional, with all updates and I have just upgraded to Winamp 5.03.

Whilst Radio is play ejukebox is using typical 97 to 98%of CPU resource (AMD XP, 2000+ with 512MB RAM).

Went to Shoutcast mode and then succesfully back to an MP3 (via the top tracks) which worked. However in ejukbox (still using 98% of CPU) the track playing did notupdate and the it has crashed again. I will do a complete reboot.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:33 AM

OK, completely rebooted, and restarted ejukbox, which hung as WinAmp came up playing the radio station which I had sucessfully stopped playing. I stopped ejukbox, changed Winamp to an MP3 and ejukebox started.

Gone back to radio, to try and answer your questions

1) Which I now cant see, but CPU Usage is still 95 - 98%, and
2) Track playing time is fixed not moving and shows the MP3 track that was been played when I moved across.
3) Winamp is I believe in default settings,
4) ejukebox has popularity setting on.

Tried to come out of the radio and ejukebox just crashed again.

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 09:40 AM

OK, If the playtime does not update and stays between 0:00 and 0:01 eJukebox will use allot of CPU and pretty much hang.

Not sure why the playtime is not updating for the radio station... Is the playtime changing in Winamp? Have you tried a different radio station?

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:49 AM

I can conform that Winamp repeat and shuffle are off.

Currently playing an MP3 and everything is upadeting OK.

Went to the radio (a different one) and:
1) Winamp display radio OK,
2) Time in eJukebox, changed rapidly and then locked at 0.05, and sisplayed an MP3 cover for a none related track.
3) could pause radio from ejukebox, and restart using the play icon.
4) Could only get back to MP3 by selecting track from top tracks.
5) Winamp displayed track correctly,
6) Ejukebox crashed before I could check CPU Usage.

????

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 09:51 AM

What about the playtime display in Winamp when a radio station is playing? Does that progress with the number of seconds the station has been playing?

Also did you ever try playing a radio station with eJukebox before v3.83 and if so did this problem occur?

Let me know and I will look into this more later today and hopefully have a fix for you.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 09:59 AM

Tried yet another radio, and yes Winamp and ejukebox are diplaying the time. Or at least they did, as ejukebox has stuck at 0.53. Winamp continues ok and is now at 2.53.

eJukebox using 99% of CPU. even with radio paused via the ejukebox pause/play icon.

I'll try switching back, by selecting a track from top tracks:

1) Winamp playing fine
2) eJukebox disappeared so quick even windows didn't tell me it had crashed, not do you want to report a dead program.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 10:04 AM

I Haven't bothered with the radio, before 3.83 so I can't comment. A fix would be very useful, as I can't use it as it is.

Any questions, email me and I will try to respond during the day. Happy to discuss on the phone or instant messenger if that would help you.

:)

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 10:09 AM

So does eJukebox ever display the Radio Station Name in a scroll at the top Under "Now Playing" or the radiostation songtitle and artist?

One more thing I need you to try:

1. Play a radio station while eJukebox is running.
2. After 20 seconds Shutdown eJukebox or kill the ejukebox.exe process if you have to.
3. Start Winamp and start playing a MP3 then close Winamp.
4. Start eJukebox and let me know if eJukebox starts playing the radio station or the mp3 in winamp.

bhauxwell - 6-2-2004 at 10:18 AM

1) Yes I belive it displays radion OK, I think it did for all of them,
2) started radio, which played fine with correct diaplay, and time running in ejukebox,
3) Killed ejukbox,
4) Started Winamp which came up wuth the radio station paused.
5) Started and MP3 file which played OK, and killed winamp
6) Started ejukebox, which stuck at the 66% level, and winamp had started with the radio again, still paused.

Audiosoft - 6-2-2004 at 10:20 AM

OK thanks for that....rules something out....will look into this more later today.
